Who's buying the iPhone 4S and also planning to get the next generation iPhone 5?

I agree, the feature I am most looking forward to in the iPhone 4S is Siri.

That and the new camera and twice the speed!

Do they number the models by generations, or by sequence? I see they do it by sequence (except for the first Iphone to the second), it's not about wheter it's the "technical" name or not... My 2.04 cents.
 
For sure! Me and my dad are eligible to upgrade alternating years so this year I upgraded and next year, when it comes out, I'll just use his upgrade to get the 5 and give him my 4S. He couldn't care less what it is as long as it's an iPhone. He's getting older and he's used to the software, excellent voice quality, and large keypad :D
 
I love how people think the next phone will be called the iPhone 6. LOL

It will probably be called something like iPhone 4G or iPhone LTE, mimicking what they did with the 3G when it came out. Or even 5.

Apple does not care about what generation the phone is, that should be clear with them naming this one 4S instead of 5. The phone gets a name for the best marketing, not for what generation it is.

If it uses an A6 I can see it being 6.
 
the next numbered iphone would probably be called iphone 7. so i think next year's iphone would be called iphone 4g?

Yet they called it 4S with an A5 chip in it.

But do you really think Apple will call their next iPhone iPhone 6 because it will have an A6 chip that most people don't even have a clue about? I don't think so.
 
This is a lame thread. EVERYONE I know upgrades their iPhones yearly. I'll buy every iPhone they make until I either run out of money or they stop adding features.

I'll get the latest iPhone each time a new one is available. Resale is so good on the previous years model, it works out to be only a few dollars more!
 
Yep. I conveniently have multiple phones that are staggered with the updates, so I can get a new phone each year and hand down the old one to the kids.
 
Naming the next iPhone the iPhone 5 would be about as stupid as naming the current iPhone the iPhone 4S.

I am on the iPhone [insert] S⃣ pathway and very pleased with myself. I'll get the LTE iPhone 5 S⃣ 30 months from now. That way my area will actually have usable 4G and my hardware won't be in beta as with 3G and 4.

Where by "a few" you mean "a few plus the $250 charge the carrier takes for you to upgrade early"?
 
I'll probably buy the next generation (whatever they happen to call it, I don't want to offend anyone). As someone mentioned, Apple products, especially iPhones, hold value really well. Surely it won't cost me much to upgrade after resale of the 4S.
