I'm planning on going their in a couple hours to see what kind of deals they have. I need a new pair of headphones and they carry BOSE :)

May even pick up on of those nice HP monitors if their cheap enough. always wanted a dual screen mac :)

In Canada,at least the part I live in,we don't have Circuit City, but we have a store called "The Source,by Circuit City",I wonder if those are gonna liquidate as well.

*edit* NVM I just read an article in the paper that says the source will remain in operation....darn.

I've only been in their a few times anyway..

Their customer service was always top-shelf, compared to Best Buy's which has ALWAYS sucked (talk about surly salesmen, something I've heard several people say as well) I don't understand why they didn't do better, really..

I won't be going in again, no..

The liquidation sale at the other Circuit Citys that closed were hardly sales. They jacked up the prices, then offered a percentage off, making items the same price, if not more expensive than before.

i went to my local circuit city after Christmas, expecting amazing deals, closeouts. but nothing was on sale. half the shelves were empty, and u could tell it was just really dead. so im not going.

Overall there weren't really any savings, but my local CC's manager actually announced at one point that everyone in the store (customers and employees alike) could take 25 CDs, DVDs, or Blu-rays for $25. That cleared out the stock pretty quickly.

I am... going to see if I can get any deals on cds/dvd/blu-rays. Worth a shot. The only thing I hate about liquidation sales is they seem to jack up the prices then put the discount on them!:) Sneaky liquidators.

The way to approach these closeout sales it to know precisely what you are looking for and shop prices beforehand. These bankruptcy and closeouts specialists count on a carnival atmosphere to charge more that you'd otherwise pay, at least in the early days. The real bargains usually don't appear until almost nothing is left on the shelves. Of course if you happen to have an iPhone, you can check competitive prices on the spot.

One of the newer circuit city's the opened here back in september and then closed in the middle of december had some really good sales going on the last day they were open.
I was able to pick up dvd's, blu ray movies for $3 each. I even picked up 2 copies of Lost Season 3 for that price and regular price they were $100.

All their cd's were also 25 cents each.

but the circuit city on the other side of town is still open and i'm gonna be checking it out within the next few weeks for some good deals.

People in the other thread have said it is the same this time around as well.

wow the circuit city here was PACKED when i went.

the prices did not seem like sales at all to me though. still on par with best buy it seemed. kinda dissapointed. didnt stop loads of people from buying crap though

I went to mine Saturday evening on the off chance they'd have something interesting. It wasn't all that crowded, and so far the only thing they had going was 10% off storewide. I'm guessing prices will drop even more as time goes by, and if I'm lucky I'll be able to score a deal on a new camera for the pre-wife for her birthday.

I must say it rather sucks for them, they just moved across town into a brand new store in the new uppity-ish shopping center from the craptastic strip mall here not six months ago. Ironically enough, the space was originally going to be occupied by a Best Buy until they inexplicably backed out of the deal. I guess they get another chance now, but in the meantime it's going to suck for us locals since after Circuit City closes up for good, the only real choices for what they offer is Wal-Mart/K-Mart or drive for at least an hour to Birmingham.

Why are the selling itunes gift cards? they do no prepay for those? the are worthless until you buy them and get activated and loaded by circuit city.. they spend almost $0 upfront... no wonder this place is going out of biz...
i went there the 16th, was looking at a TV for $1,499 went back day of the sale, its now $1,999 with 10% off making it $1,799 lol..

they did not up the prices on the computers or cameras just the TV's it appears because i was looking at a camera and possible a new screen to make my imac a dual screen..

The only good deals really were the cable for 30% off which also the pices were not increased.

Anyway im waitin until the end, i wonder how much that verizon kiosk will be going for?
