I won't be going to a Circuit City today, but I will be going to a Goody's clothing store that's going out of business.

Ah, the economy :)

I don't understand why they don't do blowout sales online

I really think their entire inventory would be sold out in half the time if they did something like that

I went the other day.

The isles are pretty much empty except for random crap.

They did have a bunch of Rock Band SE and Guitar Hero on Sale for like 30% off.

I did see a couple of AppleCares and an Airport Extreme that was torn open. They had an Airport Express there also.

Computers and accessories were only 10% off of there rediculously high prices anyway.

They had a core i7 extreme rig for like $1200, which is a pretty good price.

Music / Etc was only 10% off, no real bargains, but lots of shoppers. They said they get new stuff each day, so I would get there early and expect little to no help.

My brother and I went yesterday. I picked up seasons 1 and 2 of South Park to complete my collection, and picked up a few Blu Ray movies. SP and the Blu Ray movies were about 18 bucks each which wasn't bad. He looked at Blu Ray players because he wants one too, and the only one they had was the Sony BDP-S350 which they were selling for $320, which is highway robbery since the exact same player can be purchased from Best Buy for $300.

Some things were good deals, some weren't. You just have to know your prices before you go in, or look them up on an iPhone or something.

I've been onto my local one twice. Other than decent prices on DVDs, their prices are ridiculous.

Yup, that's exactly what I noticed.

Although all iPods were also 10% off their original price which isn't a bad deal, but they were sold out of all of them. And an iPod is perhaps the only piece of electronic equipment I would buy from a store in liquidation, since I can still easily go through Apple if it quits working. I think the people buying TVs and whatnot are morons, because if they get the TV home and it doesn't work, they're SOL. They have to go through the manufacturer (which I doubt it an easy process); they can't just load it back up in the car and exchange it.

It depends on the manufacturer. Some of them have good customer service, some are terrible. Hard to know which is which in advance.

These closeout sales are run by professional liquidators (probably the only growth industry in this economy). They're experts in squeezing as many dollars as possible out of the store's stock. The chances of you getting a really good buy at one of them is small, unless you're willing to wait until the very end and buy stuff that nobody else wants.

I know this thread is a week old, but it's still a current issue.

I just picked up a Sony DSLR for 30% off and about 200 less than the cheapest place online.

I went yesterday in MA and the place was mobbed. If they had half this traffic before they declared bankruptcy perhaps they wouldn't have had to.

They had a decent set of Wii games for 30% off so I picked up a couple. The shelves were starting to get emptied but there are still some deals to be found. Printer ink was one thing to check out.
