I can understand all the WT at wally world but really if you want an iphone 4 how hard can it be....It comes in a box sealed. Not like they are back there throwing them around. I wouldnt think it would be much of a problem.
Yea. I agree with this dude/dudette..

The biggest issues I would need to have checked out before I signed the dotted line is the Data plan being grandfathered over, MY FAN (although ATT can give me my student discount anytime Im sure) and my upgrade text confirming my eligibility for the complete subsidization. Also make them place a call on my new phone.

As Far as what the "people of Wal-Mart" are like... Here in Western Wisconsin, the types of people are numbered. Especially in a college town like the one I live in. "Students", "Retired folks", "Pseudo-redneck/mechanic/deer hunter" and a few "wannabees"
Wisconsin is an example of a state that is very liberal with their words, and conservative with their actions.

Anyway Like i said. I'll have my Uncle hold my Best Buy spot while I cross the street and see whats happening at Wally World around 7:30ish. I would rather have Best Buy set it up, but either way it'll get done.

I've seen some weird people at my local wal-mart, but not as odd as the ones on the peopleofwalmart site. ha. If worse comes to worse, i'll be looking to wal-mart to make my iPhone 4 purchase, and i'm sure most of you have the same plan. but i am going to at&t first, clearly :p

I work in electronics at a Walmart and have been trying to get an answer all day at work about it. No one in the store has any idea if we will even carry it or not. We didn't carry the 3GS until a few months ago, still had the 3G. So I think it can definitely depend on each store because the other Walmart I worked at had the 3GS on release day. Also the Wireless department doesn't open until 9AM and they're the only ones that can activate phones so I doubt it will start at 8. I'm so thankful this is just a college job.

I don't really like Walmart. I've never thought that they ever really tried to be the best out of the other retail stores for their customers. Does Walmart have to activate your iPhone 4 before you leave, or can you do that at home? I foresee more problems at Walmart than at other retailers with activation since the employees there are typically uninformed

Yeah I work at Walmart and all they do is unbrick it when they upgrade it. I think you're still going to have to activate it on iTunes when you get home but don't hold me to that. Also, most associates take 30 minutes when they do an iPhone upgrade. I work in the afternoon that day but I'm thinking about showing up just to laugh.

Can you shed some more light on the process? Will all the stores with connect centers have it? Will there be a line? etc etc.

Thanks. I've been calling and looking. One employee actually told me the iPhone wasn't going to be released until "late summer" -_-.

There will most likely be a line but I won't see any Walmarts getting over 25 phones or so.. I honestly think every store varies because of sales. And the employee that told you it wasn't going to be released until late summer probably is still going off of earlier information before the keynote and doesn't even know the release date. If an associate doesn't know an answer, it's most likely they will give you some bs to act smart. There are only three associates including me that work in electronics/connection center that actually think about and love electronics once they get off work.. And we definitely don't get any information from training or management so it's hit or miss.

Yeah it makes sense that no one would have any information. I never get mad at the employees because back when I worked retail I couldn't tell customers what the back office/warehouse people were doing since I didn't have all that information so i can sympathize.

But walmart corp is being so dang hush about the whole situation. If they want my money on the 24th they can have it but they gotta tell me where to go to drop it off.

Yeah I agree.. I've been with Walmart for 2 and a half years and I've learned to not even question anything anymore.. Nothing at that company makes sense yet they're the number one Fortune 500 company. You'd think they would have TV ads about it, but I'm just a wee peasant. My best bet would be to go to Walmart on the 23rd from 9AM to 3PM or so and talk to the Connection Center department manager about it. He/she would be the most likely person to have information about it because the assistant managers/store manager never know what's going on with phones.

A short anecdote:

Back a few years ago when the Sony PSP first launched, I was kind of late in my attempt to get one that day. I checked all the major stores, Best Buy, Gamestop, etc. but they had all sold out of theirs within hours.

I decided to stop into Target quickly for the heck of it...turns out that they had 30 out of 35 PSP units left that had shipped that morning. The sales rep said "Nobody thinks to come here for it." And I walked out with my PSP.

You never know!

That does happen occasionally at Walmart too, but it's usually for new videogames like Red Dead Redemption or MW2. It always depends on the Walmart though, if you live in a relatively small town like I grew up in, most people don't even get it the day it comes out.

wal-mart has become a top contender (behind at&t store) for me. Everyone is talking about going to apple or at&t (we only have at&t in town) and no one expects to go to wal-mart unless they read these fan sites. In a town of 50,000, where the iphone 3G line was only 50 people long at at&t, i think i'll have a good shot.

Well after I pick my phone up at the at&t store, I am going to run over to wally world and use my new high def video feature to film the riots when they run out of phones. Should make for a good day off work.

if ur gonna be in a walmart where im from the day the iphone 4 is released...... make sure u bring your bullet proof vest and pepper spray :D

The one near Columbus Ave isn't a joke either. I pass it from time to time when I'm on my way to John's Roast Pork. In philly, you need to worry more so about your typical Philly Guy.

My friends are starting a website with a compilation of the best of best Philly Guys/Jersey Guys. Prepare for wifebeater / no shirt with chains mania!

WalMart here ain't so bad at all. Depending on the type of day, I guess. I see more fine ass college girls there than any other dept./grocery store in town (usually in the grocery section). It's a little surprising actually.

Agreed! I see plenty of hotties EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to Wal-Mart! Lol, no joke. I never fail to find at least 5 men I think are absolutely nice to look at! Oh, and food/beer is cheap too, so why the hell not!

Noses in the air...haters beware!

I am not a redneck. I am not white trash. My family makes good money. AND, I was, strategically, thinking about going to WM for the :apple: iphone 4 simply because they are one of the only retailers who did no accept pre-sales. Therefore, what quantity they do have available will be open to walk-ins...those of us who could not get through on the 15th. Seems like the best odds, to me. Oh, and since all of you WM haters won't be there...my odds are getting better! So go ahead, stick your noses up and wait in line somewhere else...you'll be helping me.:D

Just don't start crying when you have waited in line for 4 hours at AT&T or Best Buy and they tell you, "Sorry, we're out!" ;)
