Same here, happy enough to say I have a decent job. Otherwise I wouldn't be drooling over Apples upcoming products. More so with the recession we're about to hit here in Europe and the rise of cost of money.
I’ve got F all to care for. 🤣 aka no Luggage , rare huh 🤣

I'll be doing the carrier installment plan, especially if I'm doing a trade-in. Carriers usually require 2/3-year payment plan for trade-ins. I have no issue being tied down to my carrier because I never switch.

No, the vast majority of iPhone owners don't get AppleCare+. For those with butterfingers, AC+ is helpful. For everyone else, IUP forces you to get AC+ when it's not needed. There's no free lunch with IUP.

If you think “butter fingers” are the one ones who get apple care + you are wrong. I know many customers/friends/family members with it. In fact I’ve advised many of them to get it. Not just cover drops or damages but theft. You don’t know how many times after they got it an incident happened 1-2 months later in which AC+ came thru. Myself at 40. With kids in sporting events. Running a busy family business from a big warehouse via my iPhone as my main driver. Yes AC+ always makes sense to me. I don’t have butter fingers. I will not use an otter box.

Are y'all forgetting about the rumored iPhone rental program? Maybe this is the year they introduce it alongside the already existing iUP.

I’ve bought my phones outright since the 4. It just works better for me. I can then chop and change sim only deals to suit my needs. Currently pay £3 a month for my sim only.

My iPhone is covered for loss and accidental damage through my home contents insurance policy. It’s far cheaper than AC+ and so far in 15 years we’ve had one claim where my wife slammed her iPhone 5 in the car door.
I don’t see the point in a separate and expensive policy with Apple when the chances of needing it are slim and I am covered already. The previous claim we had for my wife was painless and had a new iPhone within a few days.

I‘ve bounced around. Did IUP then stopped upgrading every year. Did AT&T trade in previously but now changed to 36 months term for credits. No way doing that. So probably msrp minus trade in this year.
as far as then 36 months its the same you pay 50% to upgrade doing the math its just like before at 24 months and pay 50% and out each year for upgrade. The only thing they still get you with is the $5 a month for Next Up ability. Veriezen went to 36 months too. You pay early so they get their 50% and you upgrade but no matter how they break your monthly down its still 50% and upgrade at 12 months if you want.

I'll pay up front with some some 10% off gift cards purchased with free rewards dollars from a couple credit cards..After I'm done I'll have saved about $400.. and I'll get 2% back on what I end up paying out of pocket

I always pay full price for my iPhone. Every year.
Because I buy the latest iPhone every year, I can sell my current iPhone for a decent price. That way it's a small amount I have to pay "extra".

I'll pay up front as I have for my last 3 phones. Hopefully some Apple gift cards I have been saving and trade in on my current phone can make something of a dent though!

I am speaking to their trade in credits. If you traded in for credits and wanted to upgrade after a year.
You really lose money on your trade in. Just saying, not a good deal if want to upgrade yearly or change mind.

With economic inflation continuing to hit consumers hard, I'd expect the vast majority of buyers opting for the iPhone upgrade program, trade-in values and carrier deals. As of today, the 12 Pro Max has a $600 trade-in value on Apple.

I traded in the iPhone 12 Pro for the Apple Gift Card a couple of months ago because it was reasonably high at the time. They received the phone and emailed me a $585 digital Apple Gift Card. The iPhone 12 Pro had been sitting around unused.

I’m trying to decide if I want to pay monthly on mine or buy it out right. The one terabyte model is $1599, I have the 13 promax 1 TB and I still owe around $1000 on it. I could pay it off which would be cheaper than buying a brand new one and then go back to paying monthly. I really expected to see the iPhone 14 promax delayed until late October or early November like some of the rumors I read but surprisingly it’s not. That’s a good thing. I am mostly interested in the 48 megapixel camera when used with ProRAW. Everything else is just OK to me and I probably wouldn’t use it too much.

The money will be gone, monthly payments does not make it cheaper… Or just wait for iP15, because iP14 mainly just adds gimmicks to iP13pm.

I buy all of my phones outright just to avoid the hassle of financing and billing (prepaid is cheaper, less red tape to worry about, and I upgrade on my own schedule). That being said, I'll probably skip the 14, my 12 still works and gets the job done.

I am impressed by the pricing though. Apple basically reduced the prices by $50 on the base 14, and they did that despite inflation that probably hasn't reduced their supply chain costs any.
