Are you staying with DirecTV Now after your 3 months?

Great. Thanks.

It isn't on the list, but CNBC seems to work now as well. The rest of the channels that were just added are in the NBC family, so I figured I'd try CNBC.

Whoa, thanks. I'm surprised CNBC isn't listed yet. Worked perfectly for me as well.

No DVR is why I cancelled DTVNow and even Slingtv. You be surprised not having a DVR can cause havoc. Being able to pause live TV is a must and not being able to do it when someone calls you or the doorbell rings or a quick trip to the rest room is major inconvenience.

I cancelled DTV Now at the end of my 3 month trial period and returned to Playstation Vue for a number of reasons.

1) Can watch on more than 2 devices at once
2) Inability to watch my regional sports coverage. I'm in Tampa FL and even though my billing/service zip code on file with DTV Now was correct, they consistently would only give me Miami sports. Their idea of customer service to resolve this was a Twitter DM conversation.:mad: Nothing close to a resolution was ever reached.
3) No DVR functionality. Don't realize how much this is missed until you don't have it.
4) Erratic app performance---didn't matter if it was on Apple TV or Fire TV, performance was inconsistent at best and glitchy or simply failed to load at worst.

I hoped to see it improve as the promo deal of $35/mo for the Big package and only $5 to add on HBO was enticing but in the end, getting those extra channels wasn't nearly enough to overcome all the other shortcomings.

DTVN has been improving by leaps and bounds in the last few weeks and months. Yes those of us who signed up at launch were part of a beta but at the end of the three month period the freezes are all but gone. PQ is on par if not superior to satellite (minimal artifacts, better color), rewarded with a free year of HBO, more app sign ons made available, and NBC added to Apple TV today. It is likely CBS and additional streams along with DVR functionality coming. Oh, more channels than Vue as well. Absolutely no reason to leave what is becoming the best streaming service.

At the moment I'm sticking with them. The service has much improved since it was first launched. However a few things are missing, such as no dvr, cbs and nfl network. Hopefully that can be done over the next few months.

I know this may sound strange. But I may decide to have 2 services. Like lets say DIRECTV NOW and maybe Hulu or Sling. With Sling I can get both Hallmark Channels. But with DIRECTV NOW I can only get 1 in my tier. Maybe I could get 2 subscriptions and double my Streams from 2 to 4 and maybe that is a better overall solution depending on the DVR. My wife has here priorities and both Hallmark Channels are important to her. Also, she like the UP Channels which currently is not on any of the Streaming Services.

One of them would most like be DIRECTV NOW.
1. I got the grandfathered price for $35 which includes about 114 channels and also HBO for free for 1 year. Even at $5 it was $1- less then HBO Now. So my cost is net $25 per month.
2. DIRECTV Now gives me anywhere access (not just at home).
3. DIRECTV Now gives me FREE CELL DATA Streaming when outside the house.
4. Not sure about what we get with DVR and if and extra cost. May use DVR with another service.

Why second Streaming Service.
1. Redundant.
2. Maybe some channels not in each package.
3. DIRECTTV NOW only has 2 streams.
4. Maybe you get some DVR Space with each service.

Maybe Hulu with do everything with a NO COMMERCIAL OPTION and no need for a DVR.

A no commercial option would be nice, but I think that's kind of dreaming. Who knows though. If that were to happen hopefully they don't put in annoying music like they do on DTVN for MSNBC. Call me crazy but that tune is so grating I can barely stand listening to it long enough to hit the mute button.

I have a DVR Solution now for some channels. But most of what I watch (network TV show) is via Hulu with no commercials and CBS All Access with no commercials. Of course I watch some original shows on Netflix. I plan to watch catchup CW Shows since it was dropped from Hulu.

Sling TV has added DVR if you use an Amazon Fire TV for an extra charge of $5. It 's only for the Non Fox channels though on the Blue Service... I'd assume the Disney one's won't let you either if you use Orange. But for my use it's perfect! All the Fox stuff is available next day on VOD anyway... so it all works out! I'm a little bummed that I ditched Dtv Now cause of the Free HBO. But Sling is far less aggravating in comparison and works perfectly! I hope the DVR feature becomes free when it goes mainstream but $5 isn't terrible... beats the $10/mo I used to pay when I had Dish.

It's not exactly "great" but it's the only streaming service with the Viacom channels, and $35/mo + free HBO is an incredible deal.

We're sticking with it until something better comes along. Used to have Playstation Vue which was better, but then they lost Viacom.

The software on iTV is garbage. It's horrible. Buggy, just quits, lags, sometimes just does not work. Where is the DVR feature they advertised? I just received an offer for free HBO for one year for being an early adopter. If the price goes up for the channels I receive I'm gone.

I have been waiting for the Roku software version so I can have DIRECTV and Amazon on the same box. Was supposed to be available "the first quarter of 2017". I cant believe a major corporation would put so little time and effort to get a new service up and running. Getting very impatient.

You can do that now on Fire TV, btw. That's how I have it.

But the Fire does not do 4K and I was told the audio is not as good. I was also told Plex software on the Fire is buggy. What has you experience been? Was my info correct?

The one I have, the second gen Fire TV (not the stick) does do 4K, and the audio sounds fine to me connected to an old Sony soundbar.

Haven't used Plex on it, sorry. I love the Fire TV though. When I got an Apple TV in exchange for the 3 month DirecTV Now commitment, I sold it and bought a Fire TV.

I myself find it very hard to take any service seriously that promises so much and delivers so little. Yeah they've got the basics but 72 hour rewind promised, not delivered. Watch from the beginning promised, not delivered. VOD promised, virtually non existent. Anyone actually expecting a DVR service from this group anytime soon is living in a dream world.

Then cancel if you haven't already. No point in paying if you aren't satisfied with it.

Not voting either but it just isn't for me.

I haven't used it past the first two weeks.
Time to go cancel actually.

Plex on my Fire TV Stick (current gen) works fine. I've been using it since Black Friday of last year in my Bedroom. It does not decode DTS though if you have videos encoded in DTS in your library.

Viacom channels are on Sling TV. At least Comedy Central is on the basic package and Mtv and VH1 are optional add ons. The only reason I prefer Sling over Vue is that I'm living on the West Coast and for some reason Vue likes to air the West Coast feeds (3 hour delay) of cable networks here. In the age of DVR I'd rather things air "live" or at an early broadcast time and I can just watch the recording later.

Cancelled it. I didn't mind lack of DVR though. What killed it for me was the fact that it didn't qualify as a valid "DirecTV" sign-on for the channels on the Apple TV. Like if you downloaded an App on the Apple TV in the App Store, the Directv Now sign-on wouldn't get you access. Only the real satellite Directv does.
