Just curious who's still making good use of their white plastic iMacs. My late 2006 20" iMac is still going strong. It has a small 64GB SSD in it and, running Snow Leopard, it lives in my bedroom and is used primarily for Netflix and streaming from my home server. A decent-sized screen, great speakers, and bluetooth/wifi all make it work wonderfully in the bedroom. I have a keyboard/trackpad combo from Logitech that works great with it.

Who else is still getting usable life out of their white iMac?

I have a late-2006 24" white Intel iMac that I bought in the summer of 2007 (just after the first aluminum iMacs were introduced).

It's not my "main machine", I use it for music-related tasks a few times a week.
But it still boots and runs fine...

I have a 2006 17" iMac. The display went, which is a common problem for the 17" inch units for that year, so I attached a 17" external monitor to it and use it to watch news webcasts, and when necessary, use it to access some of the Snow Leopard apps that can still run under Rosetta. I still have use for this stuff. The unit is used for viewing news webcasts daily and has been used as such for at least 4 years.

I got mine for a steal earlier this year, and I just upgraded it to 4 GB RAM (3 GB usable). It is the best white iMac model, a 24" with the 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo and 7600 GT GPU. Running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 (MLPostFactor), and I hope to use it as a secondary iMac for YouTube videos and some other basic tasks. An SSD will be a nice future upgrade for it.

Great to hear from people that are still using these wonderful machines for productive tasks! They may have been left behind by newer versions of OS X, but they're still serving the needs of their users :)
