Unfortunatley I can't afford to take the day off. I was thinking of going before work or during lunch but I don't think I'd be able to get any work done the rest of the day with a brand new iPhone staring me in the face. Just hope the lines after work won't be too bad.
I had some long coming holidays so i took them all next week.....
Although im still not sure if im gonna go to the store t 7.02am.....
I haven't heard/read of a single person in Edinburgh (UK) who is bothered apart from me!
Also I want a white 16GB so if they turn out not to be available then it would be a waste of a long lie!

You need a choice for vacation.
I would not have used a sick day, but I am taking a vacation day July 11 for the new iPhone3g purchase / getting to know you experience. I've been without my 1st gen iPhone since May 20th after selling it on EB for $400.00.

Cant you think of a better way to spend a day off than playing with a phone? Take the wife out to a nice park for a picnic...kids to the pool?
The wife is working. I have no kids. But we will take the dogs to the dog park in the evening when it's cooler. And of course I have become acquainted with the nuances of my new iPhone3G during the day.
It's not a "phone" its an "iPhone!"

the day I sacrifice my free time to stand in line for a phone...that phone better be able to give me a back massage...that's not a new feature of mobile me is it?
I'm taking the day off - not because I'm queuing up as I'm upgrading as an existing iPhone owner so I'm supposing mine will be delivered - but because I want an uninterrupted day of playing with it, the 2.0 update and MobileMe.

He's got a great point. Why sit at home and play with the new iPhone? You can get the phone, go out to the park with the wife and test out your new 3G speeds. Take a picture of the two of you and upload it to your mobile.me account. Check the weather for any storms, look up directions to the nearest pool, pick up some food on the way for the kids after comparing prices online.

I work three 13-hour shifts a week (RN) so when my boss was making out the schedule for July, I simply asked for her not to schedule me that day. I don't have to use sick time or vacation time; I'm just off. I'm also off that weekend too. It's going to be a great weekend with my iPhone.
