I feel ever since I’ve had the phone pwnm has been a factor whether I rotate refresh rate from 120hz to 60hz or turn True Tone off or on, I’ve been dealing with this for a year and just fed up, am hoping 16 is better on this at least.

If the PWM flickering rate of the 16 is similar as the 15 Pro (approx 240hz) then you’re going to get the same issues unfortunately OP. Have you tried increasing the brightness to at least 50%?

Are 15 pro max and 14 pro max the same pwm flicker give or take out of curiousity

And does 60hz non pros have less

I can’t comment first hand but what I’ve read is that the variable refresh rate (ProMotion) can give problems. Refresh is another form of flickering and maybe when it’s all over the place from 5hz to 120hz, the eye/brain can’t figure out WTF is happening = nausea, vertigo, eyestrain, headache. Etc.

U dont see it, but you brain register it, and uf you are sensible to it, u are ****ed

Matte screen protectors seem to help with eye strain. Everything will be a bit blurry on the screen and less saturated but somehow with less effect on eyes. Somehow iPhone 12 feels better on eyes than 11 Pro. I haven't tested 13, 14 or 15 tho. Using SE for particularly that reason, seems to be easier on eyes but not completely ideal as older phones

If you are sensitive it's better to avoid all smartphones with PWM, which is all OLED and many IPS phones.
iPhone 16 is same as 15, same 480 Hz PWM, see this test:

I’m currently using the 13 pro with little to no issues
