My only concern with your thread is that you were watching Netflix while in traffic. Presumably as the driver as why else bring it up? Passengers can watch on their table, laptop, in dash system in the back, etc.

I wish people would quit using their phones while driving.

There will never be only one size smartphone. Just look at the diversity of laptops out there.

But yeah I do believe the future belongs to the smartphone. They certainly are more personal than a pc will ever be and they will continue to grow more powerful until they are even powerful enough to replace a laptop. Need a bigger screen? Just plug an external monitor into it. Isn't that just ideal? One device for everything.

If someone told me I would be paying my bills on a phone 10 years ago I would've laughed in their face, yet that is the world we live in today. Who knows what will be capable in 20-30 years when the smartphone generation (the ones growing up with them right now) starts dictating the course of technology.

No kidding, right? Amazing to me how far tech has come in the last decade and a half.

I'm sold on the smartphone form factor. The only thing keeping this from being our only device is a hardware limitation. Or hardware limitations. that's it. I absolutely can see a future where we carry around a device as our everything device and plug into a monitor at home. Or throw a movie up on the big TV from our phones. Apple TV and chromecast are both precursors to this.

Phablets are a niche product, the diversity of the industry to cater to people's interests is where it'll always be, Apple needs to be apart of this... Reasoning behind the 4.7 and 5.5.

Here's probably the kicker: the coming smartwatches. If you're a Plus owner think about this. The smartphone watch is an extension of your phone. It will enable you to not have to pull out your phone as much. Your phone is going to serve as a bit of a mainframe for that thing on your wrist. When you need the phone, you really need something with a large screen that is powerful. You already will then have something with a small screen that fills the gaps. I believe that the Apple Watch coupled with the iPhone 6 Plus will be a one-two punch that will further serve to make obsolete smaller smartphones like the iPhone 6.

Wearing a watch is cumbersome when doing my job, it gets in the way and prevents me from working efficiently. My iPhone 6 fits every need I have. And when it doesn't, I have more appropriate tools to my liking (iPad) to get the job done. That's the great thing about choice, you have hours, I have mine.

But they will not all be one size. They will not all be 5.5 inch screens. Most people in fact do not want phones that big. That's why the Samsung GS5 outsells the note, and the 6 will outsell the 6 Plus. Anyway, iPhone had the one of the smallest screen at 4 inches, the rest were already ahead of Apple. People prefer choice, not a one size fits all model.

Pretty much this.

And Samsung is on its 4th iteration of the Note and it still doesn't come close to the S series sales. Most consumers DO NOT want phablets. Unless the OP thinks that in the future we're all going to be wearing baggy jeans, grow giant hands, or start running/working out with phablets in our hands. There's a limit to how large most people will tolerate in terms of phone size. Phablets are beyond that limit.

Right, most consumers don't want a large smartphone, that's why the 6 Plus is sold out everywhere and Samsung has sold millions upon millions upon millions of Galaxy Notes.

More than anything I'm glad that Apple is now allowing CHOICES. My first and only smartphone has been Apple. I've invested enough into the iTunes ecosystem to feel that going Android would be a waste because I'd either be paying a second time for spps I've used for years, maybe lose apps because many aren't available at all or unsatisfactorily functioning.

I ALWAYS wanted a larger phone but didn't want to sacrifice the iPhone. Now, I think that there SHOULD be at least 3 sizes of iPhones from this point forward.

I never said there was NO demand for them, it's just that the demand pales in comparison to smaller phones. That's why the Note has been consistently outsold by the S series and the 6 Plus has been outsold by the 6 several times over. It's been 4 years and the Note still hasn't come close to the S series in sales.

So again, most of the market doesn't go for phablets.

One size does not fit all, and all smartphones will not be one size. End of discussion.

agreed, the OP couldnt be farther from the truth. Thats just like saying all auto manufactures are going pure truck and phasing out cars. Just because it works for you doesnt mean it works for the other 7 billion people

Being sold out isn't an indicator of the quantity sold, it's more an indicator of the supply level. If Apple had equal stock of both phones, the 6 would still sell more.
