I decided to try the zagg shield since I didn't want to leave my phone unprotected until the PS shield came out. It was very tough to install, made the phone feel rubbery, and totally took away from the brilliance of the screen. I'm still gonna leave it on the back for now, but I took it off the front immediately. Hold out for the PS protectors if you can.

The Zagg full body came with front, back, AND sides? I bought one but it only came with the front and back.. just checked the trash and I didn't throw it out.

Yes.
There are two options when buying.
Easy install and Maximum coverage.
Easy install is just front + back.
Maximum is all around.
Same price.

Your 1st and 2nd paragraphs basically contradict each other.

Yeah, I should have made that a little more clear.

It IS smooth if your just using the phone regularly.
But if you are gripping it, or rubbing your finger on it, you can feel a grip.
It's not bad.
Some people are making it out to be a lot worst than it is.

My installation was pretty simple.
I watched A LOT of installation videos beforehand though (on 3G's and 3GS's, obviously).

I have to admit I did run out of solution before I was able to apply the sides.
A quick google search and I was told just add water to the spray bottle and it worked perfectly.

After 2 days, this thing looks and FEELS great.

I guess it's just preference.

How's the "orange peel" texture/look? Does it affect the beauty of the retina screen? I have a Zagg IS on my Garmin GPS i use for hot air ballooning and it's got that orange peel look to it.

That being said, I can't stand the thought of scratches, so I ordered another Zagg for my iPhone 4 in hopes that it won't have the same texture as the one I got for my GPS. We'll see. If it stinks, I'll peel it off the front and just keep it on the back part.

I despise the orange peel effect. Makes the phone look and feel cheap and ugly. I prefer bodyguardz for these kinds of skins, but even they have a slight orange peel, so I'm going with wrapsol this time.

To me, It's not bad at all.
Plus, you can only see it when in direct sunlight from an angle.

I also want to re-iterate..
YOU CANNOT FEEL THE ORANGE PEEL EFFECT.
Honestly, when I ordered it, I thought it would have a textured feel to it but it does not.

As for the retina display goes, I'm sure you will see some effect considering you've already been using your iPhone 4.

But for me, this was the firs thing I did to my iPhone 4 after activation.
I really didn't waste a second to even look at the display.

No complaints here.

-edit-

And to the people who say it's too rubbery and that they took it off right away..
The instructions CLEARLY indicate that you need to let it sit!
After 1 day, all of the bubbles were gone AND it stiffened up some.

I am in no way saying that it's perfect and the best because TBH, this is my first shield type product ever.
But for me, I have no complaints.

I had the IS on my iPhone 3g and one thing to point out is that the material really is strong and completely prevents scratching.

However, because of the shape if the 3G, the back and sides would peel up and collect lint -- and eventually the whole thing worked its way off. This was just poor design at the time. I had a second one installed by a IS rep at the mall and the same thing happened to it. I don't think this will be much of an issue for the Iphone 4.

The texture of IS's was odd -- very rubbery, and would stick going in and out of pockets. It also had a definite ripple texture that somebody else on MacRumors demonstrated through a close-up photograph. There would also be areas that caused a sort of light refraction that made it look like the pixels had gone a little haywire -- all things that the IS packaging warned about.

In short, I think it will be fine on the IP4 and I ordered the maximum coverage for $12.50 (50% off at Zagg) -- just waiting for it to arrive now.

I bought the front and back shield.
I could barely peel it off the backing.

After taking great care to install it, it still looked like crap.
I removed it and pitched it.

Waste of money.

Used one for my 3g and took it off for this same exact reason. I don't like the orange peel effect.

I am glad it is a little tacky feeling it does not slide as easily on my leather seats in the car when i break. This is the first time I used IS and i think its worth it.

Just took some quick pictures of my iPhone 4 with the Zagg IS after 2 days.

Honestly, though, the pics make the orange peel effect a lot more noticeable.

what i noticed on my IS is when i put my i4 in the pocket and take it out all the lint and stuff is sticking to the edges. this never happened on my 3G. Other than that its good ol IS. Orange Peel texture, sticky feel...it does its job. I got the full body and the sides didn't cover well. its ok but... i'll leave the IS on there until more cases come out.

so you cover your home button? i never did but did it this time.

Yep, I did cover the home button.
My only problem is that I didn't center the home button completely but that's my fault.

So far it's working great. Can't ask for much more.

As long as you're happy with it.:) I think it's a little trial and error for most -- especially when they first see it on (it looks awful at first and takes some getting used to the texture). But the bottom line is, it does an awesome job of protecting against scratches!

However, Zagg might want to consider dropping the "invisible" part from the name :p

P.S. I remember when these were first coming out, the spokesman said he was going to Invisible Shield his car as a test. Can you imagine how hideous that would have been? :p

IS car? No thanks. ;)

Haha, but yeah, It's working great for me.
I will still pick up a case/bumper in the upcoming weeks.

IS + Apple Bumper = Great full body protection.

I like to keep the phone's form factor as much as possible while trying to protect it, and this combination really does the trick. Gonna shoot a video for impressions of this combo tonight, but I really like the shield.

Then again, I've been using IS since 2006 when I got the Motorola Q phone. Always happy with their product, and i guess im use to the orange peel and "grippy" texture. You lose zero functionality so its worth it!

But yea, I keep almost all of the phone's original form factor, but adding great drop protection and 100% scratch resistance.

When I slide my finger along it my finger jumps along instead of sliding smoothly. Do you know what I mean?

I call BS, your finger is not going to jump along. What a bunch of drama……

I’ve had mine for two and a half years on my 2G, I would have to have a willing suspension of disbelief to believe you.

For what ever reason you have a hard on for Zagg fine but lay off the drama……

Not a fan. I have it on mine, but only till the PS film comes out for the front. It does have a rubbery feel, and feels nothing like the glass on the screen. It's not bad, but not my taste.

Heh.. I think he's describing it wrong. I sort of know what he means -- but it's not like it makes your finger leap from the phone and stab you in the eye or nothing.

When the shield gets a little grimy after a long day of world domination (or whatever your bag is) you might find that some parts become smoother than others -- and therefore your finger connects better on some parts than others causing the "jump." The same thing can happen on a open iPhone screen if you have a bunch of crud caked onto it, but the shield tends to amplify that effect because of its stickiness. I got used to it and just try to keep the thing as crud-free as possible.

Ok for the body, but I would never use it for the screen because it's not smooth. Get Power Support for the screen. I've used Invisible Shield and BestSkinsEver. I cannot tell the difference, so I think IS is overpriced.

What I'm saying is the zagg feels like cheap rubber. It doesn't feel as good as the naked glass or a power support film.

+1

took the words out of my mouth. i bought the zagg for my gf's droid because i had a coupon, what a waste of money!

+1 to power support, cant wait to get one for my iphone4, been running it on my 3g since its release.
