Because I like Sprint Price plans, especially with SERO, can't be beaten with ATT expensive prices ;_;

The idea that AT&T is more expensive than Sprint...

I am paying the same price for my iPhone monthly contract that I was paying with Sprint when I had a Treo 650. In fact, I think AT&T is about $3 less than what my Sprint plan was.

Let me just say that you know the answer to your question. Go with your first inclination. I originally wanted an iPhone, but I decided it was a poor investment to be paying AT&T thousands of dollars for service. So... I got an Ipod touch. I immeadiately realized that its just a crippled iPhone. I returned it, paid a restocking fee, and got the iPhone. I enjoy paying $60/month because I feel like it is a good value. I use my iPhone all the time, have connectivity everywhere, and only have to carry one device. I hate cell phones, but I love the internet and always having it in my pocket is invaluable. If you truly want an iPhone, get it. I came from a 30Gb player and I've just learned to organize my music- 8gb is enough for everything I actually listen to. If you can't afford service, justify it by cutting some other luxury from your life. That's my mindset.

Good luck. Either way, they are both incredible devices.

What is the WiFi access really like w/Touch vs. Phone?

Help!!
As with most, I'm on one foot or another with this choice between Touch and Phone.

I am currently an ATT cust. so it's only $20 more a month for my plan. The 16 GB is very appealling on the Touch but everytime I try to access WiFi w/ my laptop, there's some company wanting to charge me for 24hrs. blah blah. It's hard to find the free stuff.

The only thing the Phone seems to have an edge on is 24/7 unlimited internet access.

Is the next gen iPhone coming soon or,like some others, can I pass this poss. phone purchase onto my spouse and upgrade to # 2?

One last thing, Quicktime, javascript and Flash not working on the Safari browser? This true?

Some feedback please...

Sorry to appear so indecisive.

cheers

Otto

Wifi coverage is the same on the iTouch, iPhone, and your laptop. If you can find free stuff, its very fast, but many coffee shops do make you pay. I originally got the touch because it had 16Gb but I got frustrated with the lack of 24/7 connectivity. I returned it and got an iPhone and have not looked back. It was also nice to get rid of my crappy RAZR.

New iPhone will most likely come out late summer or early fall. I'd get one for now and just pass it down to your spouse when the new one comes out. Check with AT&T, but the iPhones should be fully transferable without any added fees or extended contracts.

Both devices read the same web codecs. They CAN do java apps and web 2.0 apps. Quicktime USUALLY works in safari, as long as the video isn't massive. No flash support yet, but it will come with time.

Either way, remember that the iPhone gets free periodical feature upgrades, the touch does not.

Well, i went over to the states in october 07 (from the UK) and my friend bought a iphone i got an itouch. He unlocked and hacked his and it still works fine on orange.

My reasons for the touch were this: Apart from already been in a contract on my SE K810 i liked the idea of having a decent camera for the times you dont carry a camera...ie out with your mates on a friday! The iphone camera is rubbish at the moment so the SE won. I thought the iphone was big. I also didnt like the idea of having everything in one unit if it got nicked, lost broken.

Now i forked out £13 for the new apps (btw, that equals about $26, another reason why we get bent over here in the UK!) i feel i have almost everything the iphone has.

BUT now i know whats goign to happen, i'll get so used to having google mail, maps etc, from my touch i know i'll end up getting an iphone! I just know it! And at the end of the day i did a "pocket" test with my other friends iphone and its actually the same height as my SE!

Dam you steve jobs for making the iphone!

PS, as an extra thing to say, i find my touch is faster than my macbook for WI FI!

Reasons?

1. I love T-Mobile and seriously had a really bad experiece with the DeATThstar.

2. I'm a business user and need Outlook Exchange and a qwerty keyboard on my phone as I type a lot and the iphone/touch keyboard is okay in a pinch, but not all day long.

3. 16gb vrs 8gb is a big difference. Yet, you'll always want more regardless of the size. Like the person above, I just pared down to the albums I listen to most.

4. My HTC TyTN2 phone is the best phone I've ever used and it's flawless on Tmobile.

5. iTouch remains my primary entertainment device for my extensive work-related travel.

At&t

AT&T has ripped me off on both landlines and cell phones, with reps blatantly lying to me over the phone. I vowed never to use them again. I will never own an iPhone as long as it's locked to AT&T. Plus, 16GB of storage is really nice compared to 8.
