so theres been talks of the web having to sorta change itself a lil to acommodate iphone users (i know its not that bad). anyway apples redesign lately made me think about how they had to change their site so it would be better suited for browsing on an iphone. hm.

I thought they changed it to go along with OS X 10.5. Just like the redesign for OS X to Aqua.

Don't really see how the new site would look better on the iPhone.

Don't really see the web changing either.

I think it might have to do with being more valid CSS, which is an issue on almost any site when it comes to phone browsers (it should be done to begin with, I'm not sure the old Apple site was completely valid) so it's viewable across multiple platforms, though I'm sure they would want to toot their own iPhone horn whenever possible. It wasn't an issue so much with the phone as it is with the site itself.

At least that's my take, maybe there's a more official answer, but to me this makes the most sense.

This is exactly what I think as well. The icons and functionality are in line with Leopard and it is dominantly featured at the center of the page. Regarding functionality, the drop down menus seem like a play on dock displaying multiple extending icons.

I can see this being useful for iPhone as well though. It makes navigating the site easier.
