Why are I connecting to ATT after unlocking?

I'm a newbie at this unlocking/jailbreaking thing so forgive me if I sound like an idiot!

I just successfully unlocked my iPhone with pwnage 2. I've got a UK Talk Mobile Sim card in the phone. I figured I'd have to go get a T-Mobile sim to connect to a network but it appears that I'm connected to ATT, not just for data but also for making calls.

How is this happening? Am I being charged in some way I don't understand? Can I get in trouble for this ie ATT tracking the calls or data usage back to me?

UK Talk Mobile probably has roaming agreements with AT&T, so when in range of AT&T it'll connect.

Might want to get that tmobile sim soon, roaming can be costly.
