3D Touch as implemented is fail. especially in the watch, quite often for me it would fail to register across both watch 2 and 4. it's a neat concept that didn't really pan out.

I’m a little less okay with it being removed from watchOS than I was iOS. I loved it on iOS but really don’t mind it being gone at this point. For the Apple Watch though, it makes so much sense. On such a small screen it’s a perfect way to have a ”right click” kind of way to bring up other options. I haven’t tried the beta but I can’t imagine long-pressing would be as acceptable a replacement as it was on iOS.

In some places really makes you hate your watch, notifications for example, you have to go through all the notification to get the clear all, it's just annoying when it was only a harder touch to do it, there's no even a long press to do it.
I reported it with beta 2, no response from Apple (almost always), also no similar reports :/.

When has Apple ever responded to a user response reporting something for a beta? Just remember, they probably receive thousands of reports, which they have to filter through depending on if it’s something that’s already been reported, then they probably wouldn’t reply to you.

Just with iOS 13 beta, I got like 6 responses from reports I made, so it's not impossible. :)

I just listened to the last episode of the podcast “Mac Power Users” about the watch. If you don’t know David Sparks, one of the hosts, he has been running this podcast for multiple years where he talks about Mac power user things every week. And he’s had the watch since day one. And he didn’t know that you could switch between cars view and list view in the calendar app with force touch.
From a user perspective, it’s ridiculously stu pid to hide essential features behind a magic hidden button.
I applaud Apple for pushing watchOS 7 to have separate buttons instead of just hiding everything behind a magical hidden button. For developers, they can decide if they should follow Apple and have accessible features, or if they want to hide features behind long press. Regardless, it’s a win for consumers (even if 100 MR professionals will miss force touch).

I disagree. If 100 MR members see the benefit of 3D Touch/Force Touch, then it’s potential shouldn’t be removed just because the majority of people don’t (yet) know how to utilize it to its full potential.

This removal alone in WatchOS7 May deter me from upgrading come this Fall. In my mind it’s a toss up between OS6’s Force Touch and OS7’s Sleep Tracking.

As was mentioned above, it seems there are many other Sleep Tracking apps for the watch that will probably be better than the upcoming one in OS7.

True. Autosleep does the job just fine, better than fine even.

EDIT: I hate that Force Touch has been removed in watchOS 7.

Yeah everyone says AutoSleep is the best one out there.

My AW arrives tomorrow evening so I’ll make sure to purchase this app first thing.

The cool thing about OS7’s Sleep Tracking is how it lets you wind down before bed but all in all I think sleep data is more important.

As long as force touch is available, devs will use it. As long as devs will use it, Earth minus 100 MR members won't know how to access the feature that the devs put behind the force touch. I really don't see how this is a win for consumers.

Consumers will get smarter over time. Consumers win in the long term. But force touch is slowly NOT becoming available. It was too good of a feature and not well marketed. It really is a shame.

Here's just an opinion. I wanted to see where people stand with this.

Apple has disabled 3D touch in watch os 7 and replaced it with a long press which does the same thing but it doesn't feel the same, just like they did on the iPhone X or XS (can't remember which exactly) bottom line is that they are now going to disable a function that every watch since day one had, just so that owners of the upcoming watch won't complain. Im just surprised and curious as to why people don't seem to have an issue with a removal of such useful feature? What do you guys think

If they can remove it and find a way to increase the battery size now with that extra space that 3D Touch utilized I’m good.

I love 3D touch, one of the reasons why I still use my XS. IOS 14 has made it even worse, by enabling both haptic and 3D touch, instead of just 3D touch. But yea, I won't be upgrading to Watch OS 7. And if I could, would downgrade my phone OS to IOS 12.

But it disables it on all apple watches, not just future models with potential battery gain.

If a person doesn’t have apps that make use of #D touch, said person won’t miss what he or she doesn’t really have use of. The same goes for the removal. Some will miss it because the apps they used made us of 3D touch. In that scenario, the developers will revise their app to accommodate long press. Nothing is really being lost with the removal.

I never use it, so I guess it is poor marketed...

You nailed it. It’s Apple‘s fault. They didn’t market 3D Touch [Force Touch] at all aside from the Keynote Now, I get it, they can’t market every little feature to make it known for the general consumer. Sometimes you have to be exploratory to understand something. But it’s kind of like ‘Live- photos‘ with the iPhone, that was another failed marketing camera feature that never really was adopted very well. Hands-on Tutorials and marketing would have promoted Force Touch somewhat better, but I still believe Apple would remove this feature strictly because battery enhancements/micro-LED eventually will be here.
