Apple News+ Why are the ads in Apple News so big?

Seriously these ads are so large and such a distraction. And if you have an Apple One subscription that includes News+ why are you even seeing ads?

I subscribed to the One bundle recently and got News+ along with the rest, and am annoyed that I still get ads at all. What's the point of paying a fee each month then? I figured it would stop the ads in News, but it hasn't even reduced them. In size. Or annoyance.
