As a moderator of the DevTeam Blog I can assure you that very few of the actual DevTeam members have any hacks for sale in Cydia, take donations or realize any income from their jailbreaking activities (only comex, planetbeing and Saurik).

It's all done for fun and the challenge. If one begins charging for hacks/services then the consumer gains some "entitlements" once they pay for a hack.

I believe what has "protected" the DevTeam from Apple legal action is their "amateur" non-comercial status along with the fact that the DevTeam has a strict rule about not distributing copyrighted Apple code in their hacks.

And you cannot brick an iPhone (3G, 3GS iPhone4) short of sudden hardware failure.


I agree but I guess the sense of entitlement is still there for many whiners:D

Thank you for what you do. If they ever do decide to accept donations I would be happy to contribute.

My original question of why the dev team are still putting out hacks with out being paid has been answered. Thanks
