In a van down by the river
With the watch and band giveaway from MR and BullShark, those who wish to enter the giveaway are being forced to register through Social Media. Why is that @arn? I have never seen that kind of requirement before. Forum membership should be good enough to prove we are human. I don't use Social Media and can no longer participate (from what I can see) in the giveaways if this new mandate continues. It looks like the people involved in the giveaway want to track the participants as much as they can across the web.

So I addressed this in the giveaway thread. Gleam is using increased security for "suspicious" entries, and it's triggered by a VPN/proxy. If you turn this off, you should be able to enter. If that doesn't work, Gleam can manually fix this if you contact them here: https://gleam.io/contact.

I talked to Gleam just recently about this issue and it's not something we can override. This is their explanation: "We've had to increase the strictness across our app recently because of all the people trying to cheat in Cryptocurrency giveaways."

This is a minor problem that doesn't seem to be affecting many MR readers, but if it continues we may have to look at switching platforms. I'm really sorry about the inconvenience. It's not meant to work that way, and I'm wondering if iCloud Private Relay may be triggering it.

I appreciate the explanation, Juli. Thank you. I turned off my VPN and the problem is still there.
