I've always wondered why websites are displayed with so much wasted space. If you look at the image this is how it is for every website I visit. Feels goofy having a 24" screen when only 1/3 of it is being used while web surfing. Anything I can adjust?

Not really. That's how the web page was designed. But a workaround would be to zoom in, using cmd + for example, that will make everything larger. The reason they designed it with a fixed maximum width is that if the website actually used all available space without enlarging fonts, you'd have very long horizontal lines of text that are hard to read.

For the MacRumors front page, scroll down to the bottom. Look for a small cluster of links, including ones named "Fluid" and "Fluid HD". Click the "Fluid HD" one.

Damnnnnn that's what I'm talking about! Exactly what it should look like in my opinion. Much appreciated.

I think maximising windows just because is a holdover habit from the old days where we had to do that to have a chance of seeing any content properly. The idea with big screens is to have multiple windows visible simultaneously (or failing that, being able to see your Desktop while using a single window).

Well, I just learned a lot. That 'fluid HD' is nice. I will add, on the iMac, I can better have Google Chrome or Safari side by side, to view websites. Need to apply the same process on my Windows PC...
