Other Why aren't you upgrading?

Anyone who has iPhone 12 series and older should upgrade... Lower battery capacity compared to iPhone 11 Pro series and iPhone 13 Pro series and first 5G iPhone...

I am sticking with iPhone 14 Pro Max for I have purchased it back in April 2023 and I have not used it to the fullest yet... 5x zoom on iPhone 15 Pro Max is great for me but you now have a greater gap of optical zoom (1x to 3x vs 1x to 5x) while the in-between will just be digital zoom... I have a telephoto lens of 55mm to 300mm for my Nikon D5500 DSLR camera if I need a longer range...

USB Type C is a nice to have but I am still okay with Lightning... Galaxy S10+ is the only device I have that uses USB Type C... I have USB Type A and microUSB on my other devices aside from Lightning on my iPhone and iPad...

I’ve always been interested in the next update in September and purchase yearly until the iPhone 12 Pro. Now that serves me just fine and not throwing away anymore money to uncle Tim. I don’t see the excitement anymore and will keep my iPhone 12 Pro until at least next year. For me it’s just a phone with texting from time to time and very few photos taken with a perfectly good camera with The iPhone 12 Pro.

I am here ready to pay AUD $2200 on a 15 Pro Max and there is not a single store within 10km that has it in stock.

Doesn't make sense to spend that much when I already have a perfectly fine 14 Pro.

I was tempted briefly and was ready to buy if I could get the phone in a week if not today, but with 2 months of waiting time, it is Apple's loss. Perhaps next year..

I’m not upgrading because I don’t want to, it’s that simple really. Decided to upgrade my watch instead, and whilst I could afford to upgrade both, if I really wanted too, I’m perfectly happy with my 13pro. I got its battery replaced instead of buying a whole new phone, there’s nothing that I found tempting enough to spend the money on it, plus I’ve got cases I like, and a lightning auto shut off cable that would all need replacing, frankly I cba, it can wait.
This phone does everything I need well enough, maybe next year? Or maybe I’ll just change the battery again, we’ll see.

My point is your inability to spare the funds, not because it's an incremental upgrade

It's not a money issues. If it was free sure, but if it was $5, I wouldn't. I have plenty of money; both the the wife and I have extremely well paying jobs. I just don't see the point in upgrading and I actually derive more satisfaction from making things last longer than I do from buying new. That and I'm not gadget obsessed.

Simply put, I don't want to. You don't get wealthy by spending money on stuff.

Edit: I've been trying to get the wife to upgrade her Pixel 3, but she refuses. That upgrade would be worth it.

The technical specs on the 14 Pro and 15 Pro don’t seem to be that different. I really like the titanium though and if the sides weren’t rounded It would be really hard for me not to upgrade. Yes, the rounded sides should make it more comfortable in the hand but I wonder if it sacrifices durability. The photos so far show the front and back glass are now slightly rounded instead of sitting flush within the chassis. Eagerly looking forward to durability testing. Also with the rounded glass we are going back to screen protectors not going edge to edge like they do on the 12-14’s which is aesthetically not pleasing.

I just cancelled my order after seeing the real life pictures of the natural titanium and the clay silicone case. Wanted to use it in that color combination. But both colors look nothing like the pictures on the Apple website. I'm currently using a 512gb 14 Pro Max which is at 100% battery health. I really like using it. Had a short check in with myself and decided to keep it for now. I kind of fell for the hype last week. My delivery date would have been at the beginning of October but I'm just not feeling the 15 Pro Max anymore. I know it sounds pathetic but that's just the truth. None of the new features would make a difference in my life right now. And next year you get them at a discount.

probably next year, the 12 PM is still working great and doing all I want...next year this new version of the iphone should be all worked out and probably upgrade then ...already heard the crash test results its not as durable as the 14, next year the design should be updated to be better not just lighter.

Upgraded from a 13 mini to a 14 pro a couple months ago, KNOWING the 15 was going usb-c. Too vested in lightning cables to switch over yet. 13 mini battery life was awful, no regrets going to the pro.

So true. I still have quite a few lightning devices. Only my macbook has usb-c.

I’ll be sticking with my 12 for another year possibly two. There’s a few factors:

1. Wife and I are expecting our 4th and last child in November, can’t spend the money to purchase two phones out right at the moment
2. We moved back to Ontario from Alberta after only 11 months, moving across the country twice in that time frame wasn’t cheap (we moved back to due a death in the family)
3. Cell phone carriers suck in Canada, even if I wanted to go through the upgrade program they will make you change you cell phone plan to the latest which is $95 fricken a month
4. My 12 works fine still, battery is at 86% so I may just replace the battery soon instead

I'm sticking with my iPhone 12 mini and Apple Watch series 4 until they die. Both are still running great. I'm also an old school weirdo that owns cameras and lenses which is what I prefer to use most of the time so the camera upgrades aren't as compelling to me as most people.

I'm still running my 13 Pro Max. I used to upgrade every year and last year a combination of things just irritated me so I stopped upgrading. Honestly, the guy at the Apple Store that said I would be "line jumping" if they brought my 14 pro out with my wife's, and that I would have to wait 4 more hours there in line, was so dumb that I just canceled it and that ended up being a great choice.

Since then, I have broken free of the feeling of "missing out". I bought a new phone case to add some color, so that's cool. Battery still at 92% from release day.

edit: as far as cameras go, I feel the camera on the 13 pro max is "good enough" for what its meant to do and then I carry a Fuji X-T4 when I really want to enjoy the process.

I was tempted by the 15 Pro Natural Titanium enough to order one but quickly canceled. My 14 Pro works fine and has 99% battery capacity after 9 months. Part of me hates not getting the top resell value I can for the 14 Pro but there's no need to upgrade when my current phone works absolutely fine.

3 reasons I didn’t upgrade from my 12 Pro Max this year

1: need SIM card tray for international traveling, prepaid SIM card use

2: current battery max capacity 96%

3: no Gold color for 15PM, although I could settle for the white titanium

IMO if you have a 13PM, that would be the best model to keep for very long. It has the longest battery usage, SIM card tray, 120hz screen.

I feel the same about this phone, 13 PM is a REALLY solid device and it is going to either take time or apple releasing a very compelling device for it to become not solid.

I never buy an expensive device at launch, I always wait a month or two and do my research. That way I don't risk ending up with a device that has a possible design flaw or other issues that could leave me with a unreliable device and/or out of pocket. That being said, there is no good reason for me to upgrade from an eight month old iPhone 14 Pro with 100% battery capacity to an 15 Pro.
