Since when did this become a grammar school? I'm lucky if I can put something together that makes sense, let alone be grammatically correct.

Anyhow, options are what spur competition and innovation. No one phone is better than the other. Rather, it's up to the user to determine what works best for them.

Personally, it's nice to see the innovation that has been spurred by the iPhone. When my current contract runs out, I will decide to continue with my current iPhone, upgrade, or change to a new smart phone. Options. Like it. :)

Droid doesn't support the 'multitasking' that counts.

Can I browse Google without hanging-up the call? Wonderful! I can tether for $35/month; they don't mention that all calls go to voicemail at that time. And that voicemail *visual is another $5...

Well said though your comments will largely go unnoticed. If you're spending your life worried if you have the latest and greatest, then you are wasting your life.

:apple: iPhone > Motorola Crapoid.

There. You can all stop arguing. :D:cool:

Personally, I prefer the iPhone because it's just a better designed smartphone with a brilliant UI and tight software/hardware integration. It's not the phone saying "Hahaha! You only have a 3MP camera? I got 5MP. My touchscreen is 0.2" bigger than yours! Loser! :p". It's the phone saying "I have a 3MP camera, but it's more useful than your 5MP. I have over 100K+ app, do you?".

That's not exactly true.

First, that's a Verizon limitation, not a Droid limitation. The European Droid won't have that problem with European 3G networks. Actually the iPhone on 2G has the same limitation since Edge can't do voice and data at the same time either.

Second, if you're browsing on the Droid and get a call it won't go to voicemail; it will interrupt your data for the call to get through. It's slightly less annoying but it does means that if you're on a call you can't go check something on the web or check an email.

Is that true? Definitely wasn't the case with the 1st gen iPhone or any iPhone on EDGE. If you are using data when on EDGE, calls go straight to voicemail. At least that's what happens for me.

I thought it was the same with Verizon's non-EVDO network.

With CDMA 1X calls go to Voicemail, like with Edge. With EV-DO data is interrupted for the call to get through.

Because Verizon and AT&T are fierce rivals? And because Apple and Google are starting to hate each other?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9550/5.0.0.320 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Calls on Verizon will usually interrupt (pause) the data stream to go thru. I haven't yet missed a call because of data transfer on my VZW Storm 2. But I do recall missing calls on my original iPhone because it happened to be fetching email when someone was trying to call.

Personally, I think Apple needs the competition (and so does AT&T).

I love my Apple products, but AT&T has killed the iPhone for me.

I just wish people would stop saying I'm going to the "superior network" or such and such sucks.

Can people just say such and such network didn't work for me?

Especially since such statements are complete hyperbole and falsehoods. Any network can be great or poor depending on where you are.

Any network the iPhone on is going to be strained and put to the test.

They are the BEST smartphones on the market right now... Both offer many many multi-media and business-orientated features.

TRUE, the Droid can actually multi-task and the screen is twice the resolution of the iPhone's and is also bigger, and oh, also Droid owners don't have to worry about apps being rejected or recalled because of selfish business practices (like Google Voice on the iPhone) BUT come on, that doesn't mean Droid people can claim the iPhone sucks and true the iPhone has 100,000+ apps but that doesn't mean the Android Marketplace is a wasteland for losers. It's growing at an alarming rate given the surging popularity of Android phones.

We should all get along. Apple OS + Google Android OS = double wins.

maybe im confused but where is this so called animosity? besides these very forums....

I always like how being able to browse the web and talk on the phone is the holy grail of cellphones. I've never once done it. Never had to. I'm not even sure if I could since the phone is against the side of head every time I'm talking on it and I have no eyes there. I'm sure there are a handful of people who actually care about networking and yapping at the same time, but I seriously doubt it makes any difference whatsoever to vast majority of cellphone owners.

Oh yeah...I wasn't aware there was any hatred between iPhone and Droid owners. I have both, plus a couple others. I guess I'm one of them there self-hatin' geeks.

Ah yes, the typical "I don't need it so what's the point?".

No one is saying this is a feature that they absolutely need it all the time, but it is useful. Sometimes I'm on the phone and I might need to check some information in an email, find an address of a restaurant on the web... And it's very easy to browse while talking if you use earphones or the speakerphone.

It is also useful if you are on a boring conference call. :)

Exactly. I had AT&T/Cingular for many years, dealt with Sprint/Nextel PTT phones(for work), and dealt with Verizon smartphones and PPT phones(for work). Mostly around the NY Tri-state area but occasionally south east.

I can tell you that ALL carriers have it's black holes and act up on any given day for whatever reason. Sometimes turning the signal off and on again helps. And speaking of Verizon, I can't even count how many times it goes to 1x in good coverage spots. That's just the nature of high speed service at the moment. People mistake more coverage for coverage that works 100% of the time ..... which is far from the truth.

Personally for me, it was the reliability of the OS and the hardware of the Iphone for me getting the 3GS. I didn't get the previous versions cause I felt like waiting for the right moment that the Iphone including all or most of my needs. Exchange and lack of 3G was one on the main reasons I didn't grab a 2G when it came out.

Droid seems like a good device with a good OS, but it has it's short comings just like any other phone including the Iphone.

I used to care about topics like this;

Carrier A vs Carrier B, Phone A vs Phone B vs Phone C, OS A vs OS B, Soda A vs Soda B, Brand A vs Brand B...etc

Nowadays i couldn't care less because in the grand scheme of things IT DOESN"T MATTER.

Just buy/use what works for you and SHUT UP ALREADY!. Sheesh.

Anybody notice that the OP disappeared after all the comments by aggie and tgmk? Apparently ran away to avoid confrontation.. Anyway, the Droid is a pretty good phone on its own but no where close to the iPhone in terms of design and user-friendliness IMO.

Then forums wouldn't exist. :p

there are just a lot of bored people on macrumors and there is nothing exciting to talk about iphone wise so people resort to trashing the droid. once rumors about OS 4.0 and new hardware start appearing things will go back to normal.
