With iOS8, I can delete an iMessage as always. However, in older versions, when the latest message was deleted, the thread would move down the list of threads to the date of the most recent undeleted message on the thread. Now, the thread stays at the top of the que as though the message was never deleted. How do I fix this?

Why would they make such a change?
Perhaps they are treating conversation/thread order based on latest activity rather than what you actually have on your device--meaning that even though you deleted some message that came in today that message still exists in the conversation itself (even though it's not on your device any longer) so the conversation still appears at the top or somewhere close to it to show that there was activity in that conversation recently (again, even though you decided to delete that part of it on your device).
