I’m really curious about this. I know it will be there with the xr, but why after just 1 year of this “premium” design did Apple only keep it for the xr? Was notchgate really a thing and Apple decided it was bad so it was reserved for the cheap phone in the lineup?

LoL....Its there Apple finally realized how ugly it is and now is trying to cover it up with that wallpaper. Maybe next year they will copy Oppo f9. Btw this is how a notch supposed to look like

I don't have an issue with the notch. I find that after nearly a year, it really does not bother me, and I actually appreciate that there is a place to tuck away the time, battery, etc that does not interfere with the rest of the screen. But I do think it is hilarious that Apple are hiding it with the new wallpaper.

Honestly, I don’t get why everyone is so obsessed with there being no bezels to the point where they need these notches and indentations poking into the screen. Am I The only one who thinks that a thin uniform bezel is actually better if it allows the display to actually remain rectangular without a piece cut out? But of course, I have an 8 Plus, so clearly bezels don’t bother me.

I’d much prefer the notch area just be a black notification area so that the real display area is rectangular. Full screen apps can do whatever they need to do.

I can't believe other companies are copying the notch. It's so horrible looking, it's such dreadful design. Apart from Face ID, that notch is going to be the most difficult thing to get used to with my new Max (LOL terrible name). Google is copying the notch, but they made theirs even uglier. Who is coming up with these designs?
