Ok, can't wait for this magical world where mobile computing will stay with 2GB of ram being more than enough for the next 6 or so years :) Sounds amazing!!! Just like how the 512MB in my iPad 2 is still huge! Heck the 4MB of ram in my 1986 Macintosh Plus is more than enough for today :D :D :D :D

You again are basing this all on pure and utter speculation of some future event or timeline, and some imaginary promise that Apple made that you would get ANY more than 1 year of "future-proofing" until the next model comes out (not as if Apple is a corporation with a Board with duties to its investors to generate new sales and profits or anything). Based PURELY because one COULD use a device longer than 1 year. There are also still people happy with their 1gb RAM devices years later even if they are slower. They aren't paperweights.

clearly discussing with you is like the others where its better to bang your head against that wall as you will never ever change your stance as you think you are giving Apple the finger somehow, so I will end my participation now.

If you were even slightly bothered to read, i said clearly that I was more than aware that nobody at Apple reads these forums, so not sure where you drew that conclusion before.

May as well bang my head against the wall also given your stance which seems to be that Apple is doing customers a favour by increasing their profit margins by not upgrading the Ram.

Since when is Apple Greenpeace or a 501c charity? They're a corporation with a Board with a duty to the shareholders to generate sales and profits. Not better or worse than any other.

You truly believe Ford/GM etc can't build a modern car that doesn't fall apart in 10 years when they used to? Cmon now. It's about a predicted lifespan and penny pinching on materials before they can sell you a new one. Just with cars it's a longer lifespan as the up-front cost is much much higher than a consumer electronic.

it's not defending or apologizing but a realistic view of the corporate world as it is.

Apple is a company that bangs on and on about how they make "the best devices for users" and how green they are. Being a green company is more than just recycling products. They're would have still gone on to generate sales and profits even if they had put 4GB of ram in the iPad Pro 9.7.

I'd take it you'd prefer Apple to make their devices self destruct within two years as their profits seem more important to you then people's experiences as customers and the

Anyone who is at all technically inept would realise that 2GB of ram is not gonna be great for long. It never is. Things happen in patterns, software becomes more powerful and needs more resources to run. Thats just how the ethnological world has worked, and given tablets are still developing, it is happening at a high rate.

If you want Apple to rip its customers off and damage the environment more than it already does then thats fine with me. You obviously are loaded with money and can purchase a new iPad every two seconds. I can't, and neither can many people. Many people also care about the environment.

2 GB of ram for the 9.7 iPad Pro is the biggest disappointment for me. 4 GB of ram would have made this a no brainer upgrade (from iPad Mini 2). I'll wait for iPad Pro 2
I'm quite curious, what if the next iPad Pro 9.7 still has 2GB RAM (ala-1GB on iPad Air and iPhone 6/6+)? Yes, 4GB on the current model would be nice but Apple has never been generous with RAM.

Sure, the Air 2 has 2GB RAM but that's actually something they should have done in the previous generation with the move to 64-bit on the Air/A7. The 1GB on the 6/6+ is more forgivable since 1GB is sufficient for driving 2048x1536 resolution but ideally, the switch to 4.7"/5.5" displays with resulting higher resolution should've been when Apple increased RAM to 2GB.

All that said, I've actually spent thousands of dollars trying other tablets (Android and Windows 8/10) and despite the limited RAM, I still find the iPad to be the best tablet overall (design, battery life, firmware, third party touch/tablet-optimized software selection).

If the next iPad Pro still has 2 GB RAM, I'll probably hold off till the next one after that. Even the iPhone SE has 2 GB of RAM. Having the same amount of RAM for a "Pro" device is ridiculous.

Having said that, I'm not saying that 2 GB is horrible for the iPad Pro 9.7. It's just disappointing for me. My iPad Mini 2 is my most used device. I only use my Macbook specifically for development purposes.

If Apple is serious about the iPad Pro being "the future of computing", iPad Pro apps will become more powerful & thus uses more RAM. I'm just waiting for a 9.7 iPad Pro that can replace my Macbook entirely (one can dream). But for just consumption and light drawing, iPad Pro 9.7 is definitely more than capable
