Hi everyone,

I just installed the popular statistics software "SPSS" onto my MacBook Pro and shortly thereafter I got the message that "Chromium" wants to send me notifications (strangely I even got this message twice). Now when looking into the notification settings I see this:

The strange thing is that I can't even find the program anywhere on my MacBook. What is going on and why did this automatically get installed with this software?

Thanks and best wishes
Chris

Hello!

Apparently, Chromium is a necessary program for SPSS to run, according to the IBM support site, and there is nothing to worry about. If you cannot see the "Chromium" app in either your Applications folder or in Launchpad, it's most likely just a service and not an app, and would be removed if you were to uninstall SPSS.

I hope that this helped you, and if you were to have any further questions - do not hesitate to ask!

Regards,

Thanks so much for the explanation. This makes sense now. I discovered that I have a file called "webbrowser.py" nested deeply inside some folders of the SPSS installation and inside the file the word "Chromium" is mentioned a few times. So apparently it's indeed for service purposes.
