Why did my iPad stream Apple Music to my AppleTV?

I was streaming music from Apple Music on my iPad and all of a sudden it started playing on my AppleTV. Why is this and what is the point of doing it? If I wanted to stream Apple Music on my AppleTV I could do it directly on the AppleTV.
