I restored an iPhone Xr from a backup and at least one of the apps updated itself when I did. I prefered the old version of the app, and wish it hadn't updated itself. (Why/how would it do that when I have auto updates turned off?)

Now I'm about to restore an iPhone 6, which has an earlier version of an app that I want to keep.
How do I restore it and make sure none of the apps update themselves in the process?

You can’t because backups don’t store the app, they store a link to the app so when the restore is in process it pulls the latest update from the App Store. I don’t think there is a way to change that.

Yea this was changed back when i the split iTunes and music into two apps Unless you manually backup the ips it just pulls from the App Store. What’s worse if the app has been pulled you just loss the app.
