iPod = Hardware device
"Music" = App

It makes perfect sense. The iPod touch won't become the Music Touch.

Then they should name it media or something so we can incorporate it all in to one app. In regards to your post, why are they just now "realizing"/changing this after 5 years? Makes no sense...

i see no reason all of you are crying because they split it up. oh no you have to go into a different app for videos now.

man people will always find stupid things to complain about.

They aren't really just changing it now. It's only been the ipod app on phones. on the ipad and ipod touch there are two separate apps. They're just putting everything on the same level. That's not to say it won't go back to the old way during a later beta stage or for the final release.

If Apple had left it the way it was, this thread would be called "Why didn't they change iPod to Music like the iPod touch". :rolleyes:

I liked the color and icon of the "iPod" app. It looked better on the home screen, but I don't know if people are as picky as I am about what is on their "main" home screen.

my only gripe is that i dont like that there is a video app separated from the music app.

Anybody have a screenshot of the video icon??

it's the same as the ipod touch is now which is this

I'm not really to fussed about it being 2 separate apps since I came from an ipod touch background so am used to it, but it is sad for sentimental reasons that it is the end of the 'ipod' in relation to music, but I completely understand as we all know that dedicated music mp3 players are going out and a unified 'phone/mp3 player' is coming in.

(I am sure it is for this reason that apple have moved their iphone announcement to (the strongly suspected) september)

2 seperate apps/icons? DO NOT WANT.

I have an iPhone and an iPad and I hate the fact that the iPad has 2 apps.

They need to sort it out in general really...
iPhone: iPod app
iPad: iPod app and Videos app
iPod Touch: Music app and Videos app

Well I don't mind this either-however I disagree as I've posted elsewhere that the dedicated music player is going out. Not everyone wants a smartphone or even something more than a simple feature phone (which could not have the same music playback, storage etc. of an ipod or iphone anyway) just to make calls and maybe text. I think Apple will keep making ipods for awhile anyway IMHO.
