I originally got the 17'' MBP to replace my desktop and laptop.

I chose it because it had a great advertised battery life, satisfactory cpu and video cards specs and because it fit in my old briefcase.

The large screen size was bonus really, and to be honest I hadn't really considered what it meant to have full HD resolution within the confines of a 17'' screen. I'm not sure it I really registered that it had full HD resoultion.

Having had the computer for a few weeks now, the gravity of this has hit me;

With the 17'' MBP you have as much screen realestate as a massive 24'' iMac Monitor within the confines of 17''. This is important for me and I am very, very happy to discover it and am really surprised it hadn't dawned on me before buying it. What a pleasant surprise.

That means you can fit lots into a smaller relative space. You can use more of your desk, workshop, table, bed or where ever it is you work for other things. It's great.

Unless you have problems with your eyesight (the text is very small), the 17'' MBP supplants the 24'' iMacs for all but maximum processor speeds, and it is much more portable.

The keys light up in the dark.

The trackpad is enormous .

I need to calibrate my batter but apon doing that I expect it'll be fine.

This is a great computer.
