why didn't apple include face unlock on iOS 5

???? Sounds like this is something they could have added to their features.. ??? I am just not sure where their time went as their 200 new features seem very minor. And siri was acquision.
 
why would one ever want that. ALso anyone with a picture of u could get in. If you get plastic surgery u would not be let in. Also the face detection is pretty meh. It thought my 60 y/o dad was a 5 year old girl :p
 
hHmm.. even if it doesn't work well.. and even w/ the flaw they are finding out(it can easily get unlock using a picture), why not add that in? So that other devices cannot claim that as it's one of main feature.. ?? From strategical point of view, would that not make sense?

WTF? You can't be serious.

Jobs would be flipping in his grave if anyone at Apple insisted that "All those other devices have this *****ty, inherently flawed feature -- we must have it too to remain competitive."

Apple is Apple for not being like those other guys.

Because it's a bollocks bit of gimmicky technology.

People who have a phone with it (and at the moment there are none until the Galaxy Nexus ships) will demo it for a few friends and then turn it off because it failed too many times for their liking.

That's why android is c***. Slow, laggy, new phone released every 3 seconds and THE WORST app store on the planet. I don't understand how a "major update" could fix all that (android 4.0).

Why didn't apple include a facepalm feature, it would of been highly more useful than this thread.
 
It can be hacked by a simple photo, dude. Face unlock is a gimmick, not a feature.

I think Apple doesn't want the bad PR about it's face recognition failing. Google failing at it is ok but if it was Apple, the media is going to have a field day :rolleyes:

Maybe on the inside he is.

But face detection on my dell sucked.... you could still get in the normal way I think but lighting, angle, etc... all affected the outcome.

It's about as useful as the fingerprint detection.....
 
Because they were really busy trying to find out how they could make the iOS 5 drain battery even faster.

Because it sucks.
The iPhone doesn't have every single gimmick feature that every cellphone does While we at it how come they didn't add a kickstand?
 
I was wondering where the Flux Capacitor was!

seriously if they were even going to consider this as a feature, they would first make it as good a possible and second wait till the right time till release it. They probably either didn't consider it or if they did just threw it out.
