Seems like Apple went outta their way to not mention if bands are compatible with the new Ultra and vice versa.

Wondering if anyone has insight on this.

Thats the one thing holding me back... I don't want to just scrap all of my old bands if they don't fit OR look good.

Yeah, if there was a stainless steel version of the Ultra I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I’m really torn cuz I need the better battery life but I prefer the smooth look of the Series 8 stainless steel. I think the Ultra is kind of ugly.

Same and considering the S8 temp feature benefits women mostly at the moment it seems that either my S4 will stave me for the next 2 years or I’ll get an S7.

So there’s no space gray titanium for the ultra? I wonder how the link bracelet will look with it.

I'm here for this convo as well. The Ultra bands are backwards compatible for sure.

Supposedly on Apple's website and looking at band compatibility once you select a band, "You can match most bands with any Apple Watch Series 3 or newer case of the same size. The 41mm bands work with 38mm and 40mm cases; the 45mm bands work with 42mm, 44mm and 49mm cases"

There is a note about band compatibility when shopping the bands section at apple.com:

Wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question but

Has Apple in fact offered different sized bands considering the sizing has changed from the 38mm to the 42mm to the now 43mm?

Like I know that a Milanese band from 2015 is compatible with an AW released in 2019, but has Apple then offered a very slightly larger band for the 2019 model?

In other words, say I have a loop band from the Series 0, I understand that loop band is compatible with the Series 4, but are loop bands released with Series 4 slightly larger?

Same with Series 0 vs. Series 7, I understand a Milanese band from 2015 is compatible with the Series 7 released in 2021 but are the Milanese bands offered by Apple in 2021 and 2022 slightly larger than the 2015 Milanese band? Or at the very least by larger I mean the area where the band snaps and connects to the watch.

Watched a YouTuber try his sports loop band from his S7 and no problem with the fit on the Ultra.
Yeah and looked absolutely terrible at the connection point to the watch itself. If it holds that’s all that matters I suppose. But jeeze it was a trash fit.

There is/never was 43 mm. Just 40/44/45/49.

As to the actual sizes of the bands… I don’t know.

I liked the look myself. The band hook up almost looked invisible instead of slightly protruding like the OEM bands.
Like you said, as long as it holds like it is supposed to is what counts.

They are compatible with 44mm and 45mm. The one downside is that the lug is color matched to the finish of the ultra.
Well the most common and popular sports band, sports loop, solo loop etc. use a silicon lug that has always been color matched to the band, never the watch. This will be unchanged with the Ultra. They should work as well as with any other Apple Watch.

I am unable to tell any difference in size between the band that came with my series 0 when compared to the one that came with my series 4. Have I gotten out the calipers to definitively say so, no. But to the naked eye I can tell no difference. And this goes for when they are on the watch or just sitting on a table next to/on top of each other.

Thank you. There are many bands that Apple offers and also Chinese counterfeits rampant on eBay that at the end of the day feel it’s best to pay the extra $40 or $90 bucks and go with the Apple branded one. Apple just does bands best.

I’ve seen so many fake bands on sale at thrift stores and 99% of the time are cheap knock offs. I asked the sizing question cause on eBay you can choose different sizes and now there’s a total of 3 or 6 sizes to choose from so began to wonder if Apple themselves offered 3 actual different band sizes…. I believe perhaps when it comes to bands Apple has only offered 2 different sizes since 2015; it’s just that their Watch sizes have changed from S0 to then S4 and then to S7.
