Why do App Store updates require password?

It'a annoying because on my iPhone everything goes smoothly, but when I click "update all" on my iPad I ALWAYS have to type in the password. What's ridiculous is that if I click on "update" next to each app separately... then no password in needed!

How do I get rid of this problem?
