HomePod Why do I need an iPhone to control a HomePod?

First of all, what iPhones are compatible with Homepod? Two, why do I need an iPhone when I should be able to use Android to control a Homepod?

iPhone 5s or later are compatible. It is not a bluetooth speaker, that is why Android phones cannot control it.

You don't need an iPhone to control a HomePod, if that is your question (the title of this thread). You can control using any Apple device, I believe.

You’ll need and iphone to set it up I believe. Control can be done from the above mentioned Apple devices or Siri.
