Why do I need USB-C in my new monitor that will be connected to a Mac mini?

Thinking of purchasing BenQ PD3200U DesignVue Designer 32" 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with Built-In Speakers to pair with a new Mac mini. Will be doing nothing special or exotic, just browsing and working with spread sheets. Can someone tell me why, with my needs, why USB-3 is needed.

You don’t need USB for the monitor. It has an HDMI port.

You'll want to use DisplayPort for 4K60 10bpc RGB because HDMI can only do 8bpc RGB or 10bpc 4:2:0.
