Why do iMacs use K-series CPUs?

Is this Apple's strategy to try and get the PC enthusiast/gaming community to switch to Macs by offering overclocking or something? 🙄

probably because k series sku's have higher base and boost clocks than non-k even though they're not really overclockable.

That is true, but Apple has always been about experiences over specs and even within that context the iMac isn't the performance-oriented platform, so it's a bit surprising nonetheless.
