iPhone XS why do iphones take so long to display iphone storage info

i find it incredible. id understand it if it had a physical hard drive, but surely with a decent processor and solid state memory this should be instant.

i go into settings, general, iphone storage.

it tells me instantly that ive got 62gb of 64gb used, that it can save 6.75gb by offloading unused apps.

but it then takes about 5 minutes to work out the category sizes and list separate apps by size. sometimes it never actually gets there and after 10 mins of constantly keeping the screen awake i give up.

Which iOS version are you on? I’m on 15.3 and it now propagates instantly. Unlike before it would take minutes to show. I think they just fixed that.

i just checked and on 15.2 so taking your advice and installing 15.3 as we speak, fingers crossed. thanks for the post.

ios 14.8.2 shows storage status of everything instantly.

Let me know how it goes. So far every bug that I know of has been rectified with 15.3.

Glad it works for you now. It was a main complaint of mine too lol. Small but annoying.
