Given that there is only one vote per post, it's likely that one person did that. There's really no criteria for posts being voted on, so I pretty much ignore the ratings

The only time I ever notice the ratings is when I read a post where someone mentions them. I don't really see the point in the rating system either. Though I did like having it for front page articles.

Almost every time I see a thread, loads of OK posts get voted down

eg

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1267337/

Why?

It's generally a handful of idiots that go through downvoting everything. On several occasions I've refreshed a page to see every post drop to -1 after which someone posts something dumb and is voted up. Logic tells me it was the idiot who voted everyone down and voted himself up.

Macrumors has an abnormally large number of people with nothing better then to vote down posts because they don't share the same beliefs.

simple. The post was not Apple worship. It complaining about an Apple product which brings out the fanboys. God forbid you say something negative about Apple.

Personally I think the voting system is crap and should not of been put out but I do not run these boards.

As for your down voting in this thread well it was just asking for it.

Because opinions.

Oh and, LOL at the number of downvotes for OP bringing up downvotes.

Yep, that was just asking for it. :D

Personally, I vote down the other direction. You know, the rabid fanboys who could have documented proof of Apple employees kicking puppies and kittens for fun, and claim it's perfectly acceptable. Or who would buy a brick just because it had an Apple logo on it, and immediately proclaim it to be the best brick in the world, even though it costs 5 times more than any other brick.

When the sun is down in my timezone, I vote posts down. When it's up, I vote up.

Supposedly if you reach -42 you get automatically banned, so watch out!
kidding...

I'm fairly sure I've seen a -86 that wasn't banned

EDIT: Sorry, don't know how I missed that

come on you have that wrong. The rapid fanboys know the first version of the brick would suck. The 2nd version of said brick would have have most of the brick features that should of been there at launch and then the third version of the iBrick would be perfect.
Come on you have been around here to know version 1 sucks. Even the rabid fanboys know that.

This one has -90 in the "Mac Pro is dead" thread. I LOL'd.

They should add Siri to the Mac line and a function that allows users to use other voices such as Alex. Apple should improve Siri's voice and make it smoother like Alex.

BS. Look back at some old threads. Users with negative ratings of well beyond 50 are still around today.

Not surprised-it was completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. I voted it down too-probably the only post I've voted down in a couple of months. :)
