I prefer it over finding apps in the apps folder. I always thought that was terribly inelegant for OS X.

I use the dock for my most used apps (only 3 of them).

Secondary apps I know well, I launch from Spotlight.

And everything else I find through my organized Launchpad. I don't remember the name of every app, but I know what category I put it in.

My complaint is it's definitely half-baked, and many people have already mentioned the problems with it. Seems like they ran out of time, in fact it seems like they just got started developing it. Half the time I use Launchpad, the icons are randomly rearranged instead of alphabetical the way I organized it myself. That's a pretty obvious bug to find, and easy to fix I assume.

I still do not why people hate it. You can add things to it or remove any thing you do not like by draging the app to the trash.

There are some random things Launch Pad will not allow me to remove. There are a few 'ghost' applications in Launch Pad that I deleted a while back from my Applications folder. I cannot get rid of them in Launch Pad (even by dragging to the trash), and it's damned annoying!

So that me understand this you cannot remove apps on Lion ?

If so why would Apple do this ?

I think I already answered this twice. You can remove apps from Lion, just not from Launchpad, except for apps purchased in the Mac AppStore. All apps can be removed using the usual method of drag-drop to the Trash from any finder window.

There's an app made from a member here that allows you to hide items from Launchpad. (Launchpad-control) I hid everything other than the apps I want to access quickly, and they don't even fill one page. I emptied my dock and set it to hide automatically. I used BetterTouchTool to maximize windows with a five finger touch, and bring up Launchpad with a four finger click. Now I...

1. Get full screen apps (nor Lion's way, the normal way)

2. Have a way of conveniently seeing all my open apps

3. Have quick access to the apps I use constantly, and ONLY those apps.

I also like how the windows I have open fade away while in Launchpad.

It's not how Apple intended us to use it, but I like my setup.

Okay just one last thing when you use the finder to remove the app to the trash and it is gone every where else in OS is it gone in the Launchpad too?

Or is Launchpad more like log of all install apps you have or have had ?

Lauchpad just contains all currently installed apps.

Personally, I'm finding Mission Control WAY more useful then Spaces-
I don't tend to keep things neat and tidy myself and found that Spaces just gave me more areas to clutter up and lose things in.

The linear approach that Mission Control/Full Screen Apps/Desktops takes means I don't have to worry about what's where - the automatic rearranging (in order of use) puts everything nearby at all times.

I can see how people who've developed their own workflow might feel restricted - but for me, it's more about the OS doing all that organization for me... automatically.

My only gripe is that in Mission Control, I can't grab a Full Screen App "Space" and drag it to the desktop to get out of Full Screen Mode... on more then one occasion, I've wanted to drag files from my desktop into an email... sort of tough to do with gestures though.

Your post needs to elaborate as we know that .

 I answered your question directly and completely. You asked if Launchpad contained apps that were removed from the system. It does not. It just contains all currently installed apps.

Look a poster said one of the things I hate about Launchpad is you cannot add apps to it or remove apps.

My reply just drag a app to the Launchpad to add it or if one wants to remove a app from the system just drag it to trash.

The reply no apple for some reason does not allow this.

My reply so hard to you remove app from the system than?

Yo cannot ?

Do I even have to say here can you use finder to remove a app and well it is gone in system !!!! But wait is it gone in Launchpad too?

I thought my post and the post above was clear that I did not have to say that?

But here that me say it again for one to understand.

- If you remove app from system using finder it is gone ( yes or no))!! And no where to be found on the system using finder or spotlight !! But wait is it gone in Launchpad too.

This is the 80 question I'm trying to get a reply.

On last note may be it is bug why the Launchpad is locked down by apple why you cannot remove apps like the application folder on dock.

You are confusing removing apps from the system and removing apps from Launch Pad. Apps are removed from the system just as they always have. Either by using an uninstaller or moving the app to the trash in finder.

As I have said three times now, if it is removed from the system, it is not displayed in Launch Pad.

Yes.

Yes.

But wait is it gone in Launchpad too.

Yes.

Because it is not a folder.

Does apple have any plans to allow one to remove apps from the Launchpad or add apps from the Launchpad ?

If they did it make the Launchpad really shine.

You can already uninstall Mac App Store apps from the Launch Pad. I doubt they will allow uninstallation of other apps any time soon because of the potential complications.

I'm not sure what you mean by "add apps from the Launch Pad."

I mean any plans in the future for the Launchpad to behave like the application folder on dock .

I actually love it. When i'm on my bed feeling lazy I really only usually use only one hand and have the other hand underneath my pillow. Pinching to open launchpad to launch programs is great.
