I'm only just over a week with my first MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar (M1 MacBook Pro 8gb, 512gb SSD.... LOVE IT!) and I'm not getting why people hate it. It seems like a great way to utilize the function space based upon what you're doing. Other than not using it a ton yet, I don't see why people would hate it. Is it a big deal that there aren't physical keys in the function row?
As a user, I used to be able adjust volume and brightness without looking at the keyboard. I also use to map commonly used functions to F keys and press ESC without looking. None of that is possible with the Touch Bar.

As a developer, I hate it because it's an interface element that has to be dealt with for a very small percentage of users. (OS X users, who have MBP's with touchbars, AND are not connected to an external keyboard).

It would be nice if they made a touch screen

With the M1's being able to run iOS apps, MacBooks and iMacs should absolutely have touchscreens. It's time.

It’s good for people who can’t touch type, otherwise touch-typers never look at it. I bought better touch tool which almost makes it useful but again, I barely look down as I’m working.

Did those stolen CAD renders only show the sides of the new MBPs or the top case as well? Wasn't sure if I'd missed whether or not it had been confirmed if there was going to be a Touch Bar or not.

The cad drawing (not render) I have seen, showed underside of top case, but only as a quick clip in a YouTube video.

I love the confirm buttons on the touch bar, just press them, instead of having to mouse pointer to the fields on the screen. They are a bit slow to show up though.
