I scratched my screen with the sim eject tool (it is on my keyring). If I get a new iphone I will fit a screen protector this time!

Has anyone tried polishing the scratches out with a very mild abrasive compound?

I was dumb and thought my screen was safe, wrong 2 weeks and a scratch on my brand new 2G iPhone, so yes i pay for screen protectors so i dont have ***** scratches.

Yup - three weeks with my 3G and I have scratches. They are small but I notice them. I am going to get one just to stop the madness.

I had an InvisiShield on my 3G, but am gonna go bareback with my 3GS.

I don't see a need for a cover.

I do have a silicone case because I prefer the feel.

I use one of the back plate cases like the SHIELD and a screen protector. Adds very little extra dimension to the iPhone but provided that extra protection. You can even get a super cheap version (like $3) from Mertline. Not as good as the $15+ versions but it protects from at least 1 drop on to concreate. :)

I use 3M paint protection film (aka Best Skins Ever, or Invisishield) on my iPhone, partly for scratch protection, but mostly for traction. Especially on my first gen phone, it was absolutely necessary. Plus, you can absolutely scratch the glass screen and if you keep the phone naked long enough, eventually you will.

I was testing out the invisibleshield on my nokia, and a corkscrew opener didn't damage it but my nail did

I've had my 3G since December with no screen protectors and the screen is in perfect condition. I typically carry it in my pocket. I do use an incase slider but no screen protector

I've used screen protectors on my PDAs before but never got them on perfectly or there was a bubble or a speck of dirt. I much prefer going without one and my phone is not worse for it

I use the Anti-glare with the incase slider black matte. The challenge is to get the protector and the case on without getting little air bubbles on the sides of the phone.

my friend has the screen protector and silicon case too. To me it seems like putting these silicon cases on is like buying a car with lovely leather seats but putting seat covers on them. You're always keeping new for the next person you sell it to and not enjoying the slick iPhone yourself

I don't use anything on mine and just enjoy using it as a slick iPhone. It feels like a brick with a silicon case on and the screen protectors just make the screen a tad more grippy.

Not saying it's wrong to protect it just seems like it's ruining such a nice looking phone

That's all fine and dandy BUT make sure you NEVER drop your phone. Many like you come her crying afterwords on how best to fixed their damaged phones.

I don't mind the case or protection. I find the phone gets slippery at times.

I took a box cuter and put it to my screen, pressed down, and moved it and it doesn't scratch my screen. I think this is the best thing that could scratch a screen and it doesn't even do it.

Metal won't scratch the screen. But some types of dust (of volcanic origin, etc.) will. Who knows what kind of dust just blew in your window? Rub it hard enough, and your screen is now scratched (happened to me...)

Here in Las Vegas the enemy is sand or the quartz in sand; it will scratch anything. So my 3G S got a protector put on it on day one.

I got the PS anti-glare. I'm liking it. Went on easy. Like the texture can't see it at all. It fits great with my Seideo case.

i personally dont like the texture of a naked iPhone screen
I prefer that of an anti glare power support film

I'm going to have this thing for 2 years. If I had to look at a big scratch every day, I'd go nuts. Better safe than sorry - I know it's possible for them to scratch.

I actually prefer the feel of the 3G S glass. Much smoother and I feel like I can move faster with just the glass. I just wipe off the 3G S screen once a day of or so. I'm glad they went the oliophobic screen. It's sweet!

I like the oleophobic screen on my iphone.

I just tried out the crystal clear power support film and while it does a great job of staying clear and, quite surprisingly a very good job at resisting smudges and fingerprints like the oleophobic screen it does a pretty bad job at resisting face oils. I just got off a phone call and tried to wipe it off with my fingers and it just smears it around. At least with the oleophobic screen the smudges and grease disappear quickly. I'll keep it on for a day but right now im leaning towards going naked again.

I only tried this thing out because a friend had an extra he was willing to spare.
