Why do some games disable Expose/Command+Tab, and any way to override it?

There are some games like Team Fortress 2 that allow you to access all your Expose actions and Command+Tab while in-game (full screen). But then there are others like Call of Duty 4, which only allow Command+Tabbing, or a game like Savage 2, which has you completely in the game, no Expose or Command+Tab ability.

What is happening in games that take away the ability to use Expose and Command+Tabbing?

And is there a way to get around it?

    Thanks.

I noticed the same thing. What I do is hit Command + M to switch back and forth.

Command+M doesn't work for 2 games I tested, Call of Duty 4 and Savage 2.

Command+Enter minimises some games, which is helpful if there is no other way out of it.

Didn't work for me, but found Command+H worked for Call of Duty 4. Savage 2 meanwhile remains stubbornly unaffected.
