cats jumping on the table and eating food etc.
The last two cats my parents had (last one passed 2 years ago) NEVER went after food on a table or counter, despite coming into the house as kittens with at least one adult cat that DID do that. I'm not saying they didn't go on counters or tables, one liked to sit on the dining room table and watch outside.
I’ll make a pragmatic argument about declawing cats which I know is unpopular in certain corners. When we had 3 cats, they were all declawed as kittens. They were strictly indoor cats, they were happy, loving, social, they walked and ran normally, they kneaded our legs displaying affection, there was zero indication that the cats mobility or functionality of their paws was adversely effected other than having no claws.
We never declawed cats, even once they were 'converted' from inside/outside cats to inside only. But they also rarely attacked furniture, my parents still have upholstered furniture that they had in 1994 when they got the older of those last two cats and there are no claw marks on it.
Our rescue we adopted from made us sign a contract that we would not declaw them. It wasn’t even going to be an option anyway.
My brother adopted two almost 20 years ago and had to sign something similar which I think also asked that they remain as indoor cats.

I do like cats, but I'm allergic to them, so allergic that I haven't visited my brother's house since he got his (freaking lovely) Maine Coon, I don't like taking antihistamine tablets, even less since I was diagnosed with epilepsy, since antihistamine medications don't play nice with my seizure medications.

I've read Siberian cats do not produce the enzyme responsible for allergies, if I was 100% sure about that I might consider getting one, but, still, I don't think I'd be very happy with cleaning all that fur and doing the cat's toilet, like my sister-in-law does with their cat.

But I don't like dogs, I don't like the fact that, no matter what, they will come near me - I know it's in their nature -, I like cats because they don't give a single, solitary, flying f*** about me, they don't bark at me, they don't come near me to sniff me or jump on me, if dogs are aggressive, they can be really dangerous, especially when they're mid-to-large size, I still remember when I was a kid a neighbor of ours was almost killed by his two Dobermanns, and dogs make a lot of noise, disturbing everyone in a condo or a neighborhood, especially when there are multiple dogs living in the same area, when one starts barking, all of them will bark.

One thing I dislike more than dogs, though, is most dog owners, I can't stand the fact that they think everyone is fine with having their dog around, everywhere they go, many times disobeying regulations regarding leashes and muzzle, if they have a separation anxiety problem, they should seek help instead of subjecting everybody else to their friend's presence no matter where they are, public transport, restaurants, cafés, parks, public gatherings, condos, stores, etc. Also, at least where I live, I've noticed, steadily, that the bigger the dog, the smaller their owner's brain; people should really be made to get a license before they can get a big, powerful dog, those dogs need training and need a responsible, level-headed person, not a douchebag who thinks having a Pitbull - or any big dog - is going to make him look cool.

Only thing I'm going to say here is that I am not allergic to cats, but that their hair and oils do bother me.

I've learned to pet all my cats with my feet. I don't have a problem with that. But if I do pet them with my hands or pick them up I have to wash my hands afterwards. If I do not, eventually the oils bother me and I'll invariable end up sneezing.

My dad was allergic to cats though. However, his allergies were fairly bad. All he needed to do to have his eyes swell shut was just come into the vicinity of oleander.

I tried boosting my bother’s house without taking antihistamine tablets, I last around 10, 15 minutes before I start sneezing and having an asthma attack.
