Two nations divided by a common language.

For my part, I tend to prefer HBO-type American shows, drama or comedy, but I'm not British. Keep your paws off Doctor Who, though.

They (US) did try somewhat a remake with the Doctor Who movie in 1996 that was shown on FOX. It lacked that Britishy feeling (?!?) of the original shows.

Eric Roberts as the Master? Oi!

I have all the Top Gear UK episodes also, and the US is watchable, but it isn't great. When I heard about it, I didn't think it would be an exact replica (3 hosts, stig, lap times, star in a reasonably priced car, etc), but it is. The only difference is instead of saying british pounds they are saying dollars. I think they should have done something different? Since nothing is different, it comes down to the hosts, and UK is the winner there.

Like I said, it's not great, and I won't be forcing myself to watch it the moment it comes on. It will be one of the shows where I get to it....eventually. But with the UK version. I make sure I have it and am watching it that same day.

One thing I know, is that the US version won't be be able to get away with everything that the brits can. On the UK version, if they aren't talking about a car, they are generally making fun of you. That I like. I didn't feel that when I was watching the US version.

Did anyone see 60 minutes try to bash UK Top Gear? You know it wouldn't work when Jeremy was being intereviewed and he made the guy laugh by something he was saying about BMW's.

I haven't seen the US version, but they're now on v2.0 of the Australian version. It's still bad, but not as horrible as the version 1, where they just hired 3 hosts that would be Clarkson, Hamster, and May.

"You.....old guy. You're Clarkson now, so be completely irrational and pretend you have the biggest balls in the world. Young guy, you can be Hammond. Work on your ability to irritate. And you....the guy who looks mentally challenged. You can be the last guy who drives really slow and enjoys lifestyle cars."

I agree. The US one just doesn't do anything different. It may change I guess since it's relatively new. And season 1 of top gear UK wasn't that great either. Season 2 was when all the epic races/challenges/cocking about really started.

I wish the US one would do something different like changed the Stig's name to something different or done something totally different.

I'm just going to stick with the UK one because I feel the most connected to Clarkson, Hammond and May.
