When a post is reported, can it get a flag 🔸so we know ? No need to report again. Otherwise I tend to assume if viewed then it likely was reported hopefully

Even if it was reported by someone else, report it again. If a post gets a flag you should technically edit the post or delete it.

@I7guy I meant this.

Lets say I break the rules and the post gets reported. if a 'flag' gets viewable on the post I know it's reported and I can edit the post or delete it.

I had a post removed. Wasn't aware of the rule that triggered it. So I was unable to edit. I think "flagging" posts could play a role.

It’s absolutely mental today. Non-stop!!

Yeah, must be those sleazes trying to take advantage of the Heathrow shutdown.

Putting any of the "customer service phone numbers" in spam posts into a Google search reveals how the scammers use SEO tactics to steal from people who don't double check if a phone number served up by Google is legitimate.

It’s starting to become untenable using this forum. Most posts now are spam, at least in my feed, every single day doesn’t and dozens and dozens.

I deleted a bunch of spam posts around 9:00 AM Eastern time this morning. Those posts weren't there when I checked a couple hours earlier, I think most of them were made shortly before I deleted them. Just deleted one more now and I see another mod deleted one or more a little while ago.

Looking at the logs, 8 spam reports have been resolved this morning. Before that, there was only one last night, then you have to go back to Tuesday for another. In the meantime, the forum software has blocked a lot more before anybody even saw them.

Unfortunately, spam is just a way of life, but IMO, we've made a lot of progress in controlling it recently. Just keep reporting spam when you see it and we'll do our best to handle it.

The mods are doing a great job, my post above isn’t about that. It’s just about the continuous onslaught of spam. I still maintain new users should not be allowed to post straight away, but I’m sick of saying it, I’m sure you guys are sick of reading it, so I’m withdrawing myself from this conversation.

I think that would work on a low volume forum, with a dozen posts or so a day, but with the volume here you would need a herd of mods just sitting approving new posts all day. The post volume here just makes that solution impractical I think.

Not allowing newbies to start more than one thread a day (or few hours) would be a good step.

They can create an account, start a thread, and contribute to it as they wish. I doubt many newbies (or even oldies!) need to start loads of new threads in quick succession unless they're spammers.

Now that is an excellent compromise! Mods, make it so
