Sound okay, oo, nice. Then you look at the price and see what you could get for the same amount and the smile, if there was one, turns blah.

Mmm not really. Even their top of the range systems aren't proper hifi, even to the same degree as budget hifis.

I guess their PA stuff is good, but Tannoy is so much better.

Again, not really sadly. The 802 was an innovative solution to the issue of poor sound distribution at the time it was introduced, but it's now massively out of date and sounds less than average when you start pumping music through it. On top of that, it looks hideous, isn't built particularly well and is an absolute bugger to drive (92dB/1w/1m?!? wtf?). It also involves more hassle than normal speakers due to the necessary EQing which must be added to make the speaker at least acceptable sounding. Very poor technology.

The 402 is even worse. You can't get any kind of specs for it whatsoever. Oh, did I also mention, the 402 and 802 price tag isn't exactly for those on a budget either.

In case you hadn't noticed, I have a much stronger dislike for their PA kit than their consumer kit.

Headphones? try Audio-Technica or AKG, Sennheiser, or Shure. Speakers? not my speciality but I think that any B & W would blow them away, and those are really pricey. Or Tannoy, or Avant, or nice Cambridge Soundworks, or Klipsch. Looks? B&O is quite nice, though I think overpriced, still. Computer speakers? Blue Sky. Home theatre? What about Yamaha? just to start. I just don't see any reason why one should buy Bose. And those people who say 'I've got stuff that's better than you because it's Bose' soooo annoy me.' They aren't the best but cost enough to be. rant over.

B&W aren't really pricey. 684s or even 685s will blow a pair of 901s out of the water. 686s are still noticeably better, and they cost £270.

There are tonnes of manufacturers making speakers which will easily wipe Bose's offerings. B&W (obviously), JM Focal, Polk, ProAc, Dynaudio etc... the list goes on, and most of them have products in their range which are far cheaper than Bose's products, sound much better, are built better and in a lot of cases, are just as discreet visually...

The only Bose product I have is a pair of QC2 noise canceling headphones. I bought a Sennheisser PXC 450 four months ago and since then my QC2 have been gathering dust in my drawer.

The only Bose product I have ever owned is the sound system that came in my car. Actually, I haven't even got to really use the system yet except for a brief test drive. I will find out on Tuesday when I receive the car from being detailed and new tires and get my car for good :)
I got the car from my family friend who buys and sells cars and got me a good deal so when he brought it to my house for me to look at, I grabbed a CD and took it out. It sounded great for the 15 minutes I drove it but I couldn't really get a feel for it fully.
BTW, it's an 05' Nissan Murano SE, fully loaded, so hopefully I am pleased with the sound.

bose is the best ever ever ever
You should've used Borat's joke; "Bose is the best ever ever ever...NOT!!"

Yeah, thats what's gonna happen with mine, I tested a pair of Senn HD280 Pro's and wow, defined bass (not like Bose) far far far farx10^19 medium range and nicer, crisper HF, the Bose ones can't compete up to 'em. Also, they go stupidly loud, like ear bleeding loud.
I think dilailamams was joking...
Oh he's not LOL <--Joke too

Funnily enough, a friend just gave me his QC2s ultra-cheap. Now I feel ripped-off :p

I'm happy with them for now. Noise cancelling is magic.

True, I am yet to find a pair of cans more comfortable or noise canceling than them, they're stupidly amazing at that, shame the sound doesn't live up to my expectations :p

True, I have to admit I thought all the Bose headphones I've worn so far have been immensely comfortable. They just don't sound very good... :(

Some (and I mean Some) Bose products are OK. Most are over-priced and generally average in sound quality. Think Monster Cable for equipment....

I really like my QC2s. I know some may not like them, but I am no Audiophile.

How about if I told you you could have bought a product which was every bit as good for less than half the price?

Not only that but then you could go onto forums and rub it in to people who didn't know better and show your superiority by using "rolleyes" emoticons.

On the QC2s...

On buses, planes etc. the noise cancellation seems really great (yes, I did try them on a plane recently). Annoyingly however, noise cancellation must be turned on for the headphones to work, which means that when you are listening in a quiet environment you can hear a slight hiss, where the NC is trying to cancel out nothing in particular. Big problem.

Their noise canceling is quite good, as for the hissing thing, Its actually audible only when there's no music at all, and you don't[\B] buy headphones and use them for non-musical purposes do you?

I don't really care about the product. I just don't want to spend so much money on something I will probably lose in a couple of months.
