I just got a new MBP today and was going to order 4GB of ram now but decided i don't really need it right now. I don't do anything graphically intensive other than using aperture but that ran ok on my macbook with 2gbs. I think i wanted 4gbs just because i can but then my brain kicked in!

Because it was a very cheap upgrade relative to the cost of the mbp, I figured it would be worthwhile and give me room to grow. Also, I'll be buying logic pro soon so it may come in handy there.

Like a few others in this thread, I have no use for 4GB but it was so cheap that I upgraded to 4GB anyways. Now if only it could be that cheap for my Mac Pro, oh well, can't have everything. :D

hmm thinking about getting 4GB of ram now since i use ableton live along with a lot other sequencers, DAWs, etc :)

Yep, for a Music machine it's well worth it. I've run out of memory so many times with my current laptop with 2Gb as I stick almost everything I can in RAM and do real-time time-stretching live, which the hard drive struggles with. (1/2 full 100Gb 5,400rpm, not ideal!)

My old Macbook Pro only supports 3GB max (Core Duo 17" Model) but I could definitely do with 4GB. I currently have 2GB in it and I usually suffer slowdowns and full ram utilisation when I'm running Motion or a combination of Pro apps like Aperture and Photoshop. Sucks!

I'm sure when I get another Apple Notebook I'd go with 4GB after being frustrated with 2GB.

I run 2 VMs of Widows Sever 2008 (a 32bit and x64) and they need 1GB each to be usable.

helps when i want to run LiveType, final cut express and PS CS2 at the same time.

but lets be honest, my watch goes to 200M under water...i am never going that deep, but its nice to know i could. same thing with ram.

:)
