Had a few bad experiences with a couple of different "high end" Windows computers around 10 years ago and bought myself a Mac Mini. From then on, I was sold and upgraded that to a MacBook (old white one) then a MacBook Air before getting my 2011 iMac 21.5" which I used until very recently when I bought myself a 27" iMac to replace it.

The fact that none of those systems have caused me any issues, never crashed, never failed to boot for a random reason, doesn't constantly ask me to update drivers etc and just works all the time.

For my parents, I got them to change as MacOS is just so easier once you get the hang of it, and as mentioned above the programs installed just work. No error messages to make them panic and constantly phone me up to ask what x or y means that's popped up.

Build quality and feel of the products are also a big part of sticking with Apple, nothing ever tries to be too flashy, it's all understated and built to last. They're not the cheapest, but for great support in store or over the phone if you ever need it, good customer service from my personal experience anytime I've needed it, which of course, is why their products do cost more, is worth it IMO.

My reason for using a Mac is an unique one (I think). I used a Windows based computers for about 30+ years (maybe longer) and the last 10 of those years I would build my own. A fellow co-worker where I used to work with asked me one day if I bought or build my own computers? I said I bought then he showed me that building your own computer can save you a lot of money (Not necessary true). That's how I got the building bug virus. :) It had gotten so bad that I went back to school to get a certification in Computer Repair. Towards the end of the 10 years I started to realize that I had spent so much time and money building / upgrading my personal computer that I really hadn't used the computer as a "computer". So I decided to buy a computer, but I wanted the computer to be a closed system in order for me to prevent me to upgrade the computer itself. I didn't want a laptop, desktop computers that were closed and Windows based at that time to put it nicely -> sucked. Most of the closed PC computers were geared for the first time buyers and were usually not powerful enough for my needs. So I decided to give the iMac a try and I can honestly say that is the best thing I have done in a long long time. I'm now not constantly searching the internet for more RAM, a different GPU, upgrade my cpu and/or motherboard, etc... I am also using my computer for computer graphics work and photography thus using the computer for what it was meant for.

I like the Apple Ecosystem and how everything works together but the reason I made the switch some years ago was that I wanted to make a distinct separation between my work and personal environments. For work we use Windows Laptops so I switched to a Macbook at home. I have been using Macs for more than 10 years now and I am happy that I made the switch as back when I switched Windows was not nearly as mature as it is now and I used to spend a lot more time maintaining my system than actually getting things done.

I'm attached to a bunch of Mac-only or Mac-first programs: LaunchBar, Scrivener, Ulysses, Messages, etc. I like that I can run a UNIX environment with all the command-line tools I'm used to from Linux when I need to. I also do iOS development, which requires a Mac. Finally, I'm very happy with Apple's displays and trackpads compared to offerings from other OEMs, though not Apple's keyboards on laptops—that's probably my biggest complaint.

I’m just used to using it for years, why change something when it’s working as expected.

the crashes, the freezes, the restarts, the virus, the re-formats, the re-installs... (with Windows)
you get the picture ;)

ITT: The Mac was amazing 10-15 years ago.

:'(

And it was. Long live Snow Leopard.

Now I'm almost on the fence about switching, but the Mac deep down, still gives me that warm fuzzy feeling... no matter how much apple tries to destroy it GODDAMMIT TIM COOK I DON'T NEED IOS CRAP ON MY MAC BRING BACK PROFESSIONAL POWER AND EASE OF USE I DON'T NEED A STUPID PHOTOS APP AND AN APP STORE AND GODDAMMIT STEVE I MISS YOU SO MUCH! WHAT THE **** IDIOT CULTURE DECIDED TO ADD A TOUCHBAR AND GET RID OF THE CHIME BURN THEM ALL

Windows 8 was so bad, it put me off from windows machines ever since.
My reason as well. What right does Microsoft have to say I have to relearn how to use my computer just because they had a brain fart?

Sold all my PC's, built my first Hackintosh and now have Mac's everywhere.

Mac Mini for Logic X
Win 10 and homebuilt PC for everything else!!

ETA: I have Never had a Problem with Windows since Windows for Workgroups 3.11!! :D
