iTunes - handles way way WAY more than songs

Mac Appstore - OS updates? Seriously?

iPhoto - holds video, and handles them no differently than photos

Find My iPhone - What about iPod? iPad? And now with iCloud, you can find your Mac too

Am I the only one who thinks this is weird? If I had a business like that I would've never let that kind of inconsistency happen. It's confusing to consumers.

Anyone else kinda bugged by the way Apple does things like this? Or am I just crazy?

iTunes and iPhoto began as just basic music and photo applications, yes they have become more, but now they are both a recognizable brands like iPod and iPhone, customers expect these programs to be on their new Mac. What do you suggest they be called now?

I'm ok with Mac App Store, it is what it is.

iOS began as an OS for the iPhone but has now became a metaphorical leg in Apple's business with it being implement on the iPod touch, iPad, iPhone and Apple TV. iOS is appropriate (the iDevice OS).

What do you suggest Find My iPhone be called?

Due to historical reasons, many misnomers exist in this world. Obviously, Apple is no exception! This also creates topics for historians in the future. Probably 20 or less years into the future, somebody can write a book about the history of Apple, explaining to the world the meanings of all these iThings.

This Is So True

Apple missed a trick by naming the apple tv, it's almost a NAS device, if you didn't know anything about it, and just bought it going on the name alone, you'd be pretty surprised to find out what it can actually do.

Having said that, what would you call it instead.

You forgot the biggest one: Apple. If I walk into an Apple store, I expect to find Granny Smiths, Golden Delicious, Fujis, Galas, Reds, Greens, Macintoshes (well, they used to have those :p) and so on. I've yet to see a single fruit sold by the company.:p

Whatever you do, don't go into a Microsoft Store.

They don't sell Windows. :D;)

As Saving107 pointed out, the names are pretty logical and already have this great "i" branding.

Note, the thread was started by someone self-named "Yumunum."

Pot, kettle, black.

More:

iPhone-WTF is this? It browses the internet, plays songs, watches videos, and has apps. Better name iAppStoreVideoPhone

iPod- It's not a sensory deprivation chamber, it's a media player

iPad- I'll leave that to your imagination.

/sarcasm They're just branding names so that people can remember the product.
Want to talk about bad naming? Why would someone name their phone 'galaxy'?

Given how well they sell, I'd say they do quite well at names products. They're just not that imaginative. :p

OP, i'm not gonna say you are crazy, but I will say do not ever underestimate the greatest marketing machine to ever go to market! They know what they are doing!

I loves me my Apple stock!!
