Why does everything run so hot under Windows?

Apparently, it has something to do with the discrete GPU being on all the time, but I don't believe it. In OS X, I run gfxCardStatus and enforce the use of the Nvidia card at all times, yet the temperatures are completely normal and the fans aren't on full blast.

What's the best way fan control program to deal with this?

BTW, a side question: do you know whether it's possible in Boot Camp 5 to (at last!!) switch to the integrated video card? It's because of having to use the discrete card that I can't use Boot Camp - the discrete video card of my MBP's (late 2009 17" model) simply overheats and freezes the entire system.
