Firefox (1.5.0.11) has been crashing with increasing regularity on my MBP. This still happens after I've removed all extensions. I don't have any other toolbars installed either.

Any idea why this is happening?

Because Firefox is bloated crapware.

I use Firefox because I can rearrange the order of tabs by "drag and drop"ping them into a different order. If you want speed and reliability, it's not so hot anymore. Camino is faster and doesn't crash as often. It carries Firefox's original intent, which to be a faster version of the Mozilla browser that used to exist back in the early 2000s.

when ur firefox behaving strange., removing extension is not the first thing u need to try, in order
1. clear cache
2. clear cache and cookie
3. reinstall firefox
4. rename profile folder (extension will be removed in this step, so are password and bookmarks, so before doing this, backup your pasword and bookmarks)

if these won't work, then ur problem is not firefox itself related.

another suggestion

update to firefox 2.0, most extensions are now compatible with 2.0

OP apparent is using extensions, while camino does not support extensions.
